(313) Delsin Double Radio Special on KFJC

2009-05-26 Thread Richard Hester
The Wild Kingdom has been a bit seldom as of late due to KFJC's "Month
of Mayhem" ( http://www.kfjc.org/mayhem/ ). Last weekend's Wild Kingdom
was preempted by a 24 hr Throbbing Gristle special (can't complain about
that, as TG was one of my early favorites on KFJC). The weekend
preceding that, I presented a special feature on Jasom Williams and his
Parallel Recordings label ( theprl.com ), as well as his early tracks on
SF's Reflective Records (www.reflectiverecords.com ). Jason Williams
(Velocette/Vincent, to you record collectors) came up to the station and
played some unreleased tracks and added valuable human interest-type
details. The playlist can be viewed at
http://www.kfjc.org/music/playlist.php?i=32740 .

This weekend's Wild Kingdom is displaced by a 24-hour Frank Zappa
special (can't really complain about that one, either). However, this
coming Thursday and Friday, May 28 and 29, I'm presenting a two-part
special called "Delsin Demystified", an introduction ( 8 hours total,
and it's still just an introduction) to the mighty edifice known as
Delsin Records. This feature will run on May 28 and 29, 10 PM-2A,
Pacific Daylight Savings Time (GMT-8 hrs, unless I miss my guess). In
order to make some sense of 13 years of creative output, I'm presenting
a series of "cameos" on Delsin artists, sometimes with a track from
earlier releases so contrast early with current output. This made a bit
more sense than just stringing everything out in chronological order.
Some artists that get the cameo treatment - Peel Seamus (of course),
Optic Nerve, Aardvarck. Strand, Dynarec, $tinkworx,
Newworldaquarium/154, Deepart, Dimension 5, and more. Not everyone gets
the cameo treatment, as it's only 8 hours, after all. However, there's
enough different textures to whet just about anyone's interest, from
raspy 8-bit workouts, to Detroit electro, to future-jazz to sleazy
(delightfully so) disco/electro hybrids.. I welcomed the opportunity to
immerse myself in the catalog and bring myself up to date (as well as
going on a buying spree to plump up my collection). What I've acquired
will be gracing future Wild Kingdom sets for some timeThe link for
the webcast is shown below for people outside the San Francisco Bay
area. If your interests are a little bit wider than just electronic
music, you might consider checking out the second half of a radio
special I'm doing on harp jazz (the harp with the string, not the one
with the reeds). There's quite a bit of it (to my surprise ). That'll be
happening next Tuesday, June 2, from 10A-2P Pacific Daylight Savings Time.

"The Wild Kingdom" airs on KFJC-FM 89.7, Saturday night/Sunday Morning,
12A-3A (7A-10A GMT). Potential listeners outside the San Francisco Bay
area can find a webcast at http://www.kfjc.org/netcast/index.php .
Present and past Wild Kingdom playlists are also archived at kfjc.org.
You can also check out archived playlists from my first KFJC show "Just
Desserts" that was on Fridays 10P-2A from 1992 through 1999. Archived
playlists exist for that show starting from Fall 1995 to New Year's Eve
1999/2000, so you can see what what I'm up to these days is pretty much
consistent with what I was up to all along.

If you do tune in (especially via the web), please take a little time to
let me know your locale. I'm also interested in promo music from all
over and in promoting local (San Francisco Bay area) techno-type events.
If you want to do some promotion for an event, contact the KFJC
promotions department at pr...@kfjc.org to arrange ticket giveaways
and/or to send information for inclusion in our concert outlook. Thanks
to those who have sent promo music so far.

I can only imagine that this is a photo of Kent, Andy, and a few other
dudes who I am not sure names of hanging out at the festival. I
suppose I have to be your facebook friend to see it though.

(313) [pertin_32] hemiptera & bleupulp - the metanoia ep (out on beatport)

2009-05-26 Thread Max & Mark

A sweet summer wise release by Hemiptera & Bleupulp.
The two first tracks by Hemiptera are going toward some straight up minimal
tech type of groove, yet the impression of an happier vibe than their usual
productions. The two last track by Bleupulp bring a deeper and smoother mood
with a pretty obivious ''duby'' influenced feeling to them. This release is
will be great for the dance floor and the chill area as well!
