(313) Mayday
I wasn't going to buy into this, but I couldn't help myself. First, as a fellow pedant, I appreciate the comment about infer and imply. Nice work! Much as I love Derrick's early work ('Strings' never gets old) I'm not one of those who are supposedly crazed with anticipation over a few offhand comments about new material. The last release was an old track on the Japan-only release 'Beyond the Dance 4' which didn't exactly set the techno world alight. I checked DM's FB page for the first time recently and was dissapointed to see few new, interesting, creative or original comments or insights (maybe it isn't the place) but several indulgent videos featuring cigar-smoking and bland generalisations about how others aren't up to it. I have to say there are many others making great music these days who are generous and communicative with their ideas and much more inspiring. I'm just dissapointed. p
Re: (313) UR is headlining Movement...
Yeah, I actually didn't see this news until this a.m. I had forgotten there was another phase of the line-up to be announced since I'd bought my ticket months ago. This is going to be a great time. Congrats on the job Dave! On Thu, Apr 3, 2014 at 12:56 PM, Denise Dalphond wrote: > Yep, very excited about this. > > Congratulations! Re: (313) RIP Frankie Knuckles
I didn't know the man, but he is surely missed here in Chi. He was at the right place at the right time, and was instrumental in millions of people falling in love with this music. http://pbs.twimg.com/media/BkKZeYxCQAAKqrs.jpg:medium The Tribune's Obituary here: http://articles.chicagotribune.com/2014-04-01/entertainment/ct-frankie-knuckles-appreciation-20140402_1_frankie-knuckles-house-music-dance-floor -Arturo
(313) Blamstrain "For All The Dreamers In" - new CD/LP/Digi album release & online listening party — TOMORROW Friday 4th
Hey all! I'm releasing my proudest work called "For All The Dreamers In" on Friday through Bandcamp (http://store.blamstra.in). Please join me for a listening session at 9:00PM Amsterdam time (GMT+1) on my Mixlr page at http://www.mixlr.com/blamstrain. Check to see what time it is in your place of residence here: http://tinyurl.com/kapaab6 Conceptually the album is very close to "Disfold" - it's segued and contains a lot of field recordings. On an emotional level it's the most mature work I've ever put down on a record, and contains a lot of live playing after I've drawn influences in the studio from a lot of old timers' ways of recording. I started with 2,5 hours of material and ended up with 66 minutes after throwing all the boring bits out. Getting the whole thing done was both a huge effort time wise (it took around 4 years to complete) and completely effortless process wise, and I think it shows. It's full of the most playful, heartwarming, psychedelic and dramatic music I've ever composed, yet at the same time it's also the most accessible record I've ever produced, and I had truckloads of fun making every last second of it. Honestly, I think you should be excited about this thing. I'm really, really, REALLY stoked to release it. Can't wait till everyone can hear it on Friday. Hope to see you in the Mixlr chatroom!
