[313] VIP

So anyone have an opinion on the "all excess" VIP passes for DEMF? I'm
curious to know if they are worth it? Thanks.

Re: [313] DEMF Update more detroiters explained

2002-05-09 Thread Aaron Reed

To completely ruin any sort of 31337 status I would ever be able to
obtain...I am driving up from Austin, TX (1400 miles). I've always wanted
to attend DEMF, I finally had a chance this year due to being laid off,
and the deciding factor was not a Detroit DJ. It was Dave Clarke, sooner
or later all the Detroit DJ's make it down to Austin or Houston. I can't
ever recall a time when Dave Clarke appeared in Texas. White/Black,
Dutch/Detroit...a rose is a rose is a rose. It's all techno, and I'm
really excited to be taking part this year.

Re: [313] This Looks Good

2002-08-01 Thread Aaron Reed
Hell YES!

Merrick is really making a name for himself around these here parts
(Austin, Texas). Chalant nights at Texture are really about the best thing
the club has going for them at this point. I HIGHLY recommend anyone and
everyone take a listen. This guy is great on the decks and has one of the
best attitudes of anyone in the scene down here. Truly an Austin gem.

For anyone in the Austin/Tx area.
Tomorrow night (friday) at Elysium (7th and Red River) I've arranged for
the Addict Records tour to come through and play. This includes Dan
Doormouse, founder of Addict Records and currently on Planet-Mu, Stunt
Rock, John Sin, and Progressive Pete. If you dig the
hardcore/experimental/IDM/jungle stuff come out and check it out. It's
only 5 bucks and admission goes to paying these guy's gas money back to
Milwaukee.

I just hosted the Addict Records event here in Austin over the weekend.
Doormouse and John Sin ended up staying the weekend, some of the nicest
guys you'll ever meet. They put on a wicked show also, everyone who can

Re: [313] day of mp3 death?

2002-08-28 Thread Aaron Reed
That's fine for personal listening but what about the open source
community's software that's in development or has already been created and
relies upon the standard? There's alot more to mp3 other than listen to
music. The mpeg standard relies pretty heavily upon it I believe.

Re: [313] Dissonanze Electronic music and digital art festival

2002-09-05 Thread Aaron Reed

mmm I'm a big fan of Swayzak. They are fairly hard to describe. I got a
chance to talk with them when they did a DJ set at the Groocetech studios
over instant messenger and was told they really hate being put into the
tech house category. So...I'd say they are tech house, house, minimal
breakbeat, technoahh hell. Just plain good music. I preferred their
first album Snowboarding In Argentina to their second Himawari. Somebody
help me out on this. I'm sure someone has a good sentence to sum them up.
