(313) RE: second state + 313 fives
I rediscovered this amazing track by Kenny Larkin, on the Catatonic EP on RS, don't know if it's now repressed as well? Twelve years on this list Marsel and you're late - the re-issue came out a month ago ;) Also, from a time when signal-to-noise on the 313 was better balanced please find below the 313 top fives from Forcefield.org in June 2001. http://www.twoplayer.net/2006/09/313_fives.php Have a look and see if you still stick by your top five, and see if you can spot the techno big-shots that posted fives (no points for Marsel). Wonder if the Amazing Arnold still has the mix he did of the top tunes from the fives? Stephen.
RE: (313) Looking For The Perfect VISA commercial? :)
Refreshing?! Because some crappy songs are used in most shite advertising, it legitimizes this ad because they sacrilegiously chose to use a classic to push their Sh!ttybanking?! Fnck that concept and fnck tv advertising. VISA should be applauded for this lameness?! No way. Turn off, turn 'on', tune 'in' and drop out. seek is it only me that finds this a little ironic?..

Very helpful. i think i've still got all the pages and stuff - i can put them back if it'd be popular?.. they'll be a little out of date though.. [EMAIL PROTECTED]
RE: (313) speaking of stasis...
Lance said: Unfortunately the later Pure Plastic releases (starting with the Rue East, Ben Sims, and Kapla releases) tended to focus on more of a harder minimal techno sound. i think that's a little unfair.. pure plastic itself still releases some very eclectic material, from the electro of pp061 to oscar mulero's 'a occhi chiusi'.. uxb continues to release the unexpected.. pure plastic distribution deserves a great deal of respect as well, if only for the support it provides to labels like d1.. i reckon the strength of pure plastic has always been that it can't be pinned downed to a sound, just a love of good techno.. check for a really diverse set of music, http://www.pureplastic.co.uk/distribution/latestreleases.php
RE: (313) speaking of Pure Plastic...
lance, it's not all minimal techno - can't be, i hate most of the stuff.. honestly, look at the distribution site - so many labels, so many styles.. some of it like paul mac and vince watson's inluenced label is deadly.. a record made by steve picton, ed handley, andy turner, baby ford, mark broom and dave hill would've had both the idm and 313 lists frothing at their grubby mouths 10 years ago - how come not now?.. personally i think the split between listening music and dancefloor music has just about killed all that was good about techno - so we're really lucky to have people like broom and hill who just don't acknowledge it exists..

RE: (313) Throbbing Gristle Live in Berlin
as a fan, i'm not sure that this throbbing gristle stand for the same things as before.. and that's what's most shocking to me..
RE: (313) Throbbing Gristle Live in Berlin
How can they? And why would they. Who just stands still and doesn't grow, both as people and artists... but who are tg relevant to now?.. apart from their old fans?.. do you know what i mean?.. there are going to be a lot of fat, balding blokes in berlin on new years eve.. as a long time fan i just find it confusing.. the last thing i expect tg to be is predictable though, and perhaps this is the least predictable thing tg could have done..
RE: (313) Throbbing Gristle Live in Berlin
I do know what you mean, I went to see Stiff Little Fingers a while a go and had to leave for a number of reasons :) exactly.. the kids are listening to stuff like nu monkey which to my ears is bollocks, but there you go - our dads thought tg were bollocks too..
RE: (313) Madonna..

RE: (313) The more things change
i think techno lost it's ability to innovate or influence.. perhaps because we're all too critical..
RE: (313) The more things change
What do people think of Grime? Electroclash? grime i think is ok, but i only see it as a spin off from jungle.. and jungle stole a lot of techno's thunder in the early ninties, the lines were drawn then that i think suffocated techno.. electroclash is rubbish (draws line) ;)

RE: (313) Simon Reynolds Rip It Up And Start Again
I'll dig out the ref and post it. also there was one that was a blueprint for detroit techno - some heaven 17/BEF thing that I dont own. I have a few bits by them though. and I'm not having that either. was that the 'music for listening to' lp?.. that is proto techno, and it hasn't dated either..
RE: (313) Carl Craig Fabric CD
don't be forgetting the midlands please, very hard hit under thatcher.. it wasn't only minors who lost their jobs, we once had a car industry that was the envy of the world - and probably only matched in scale by detroit.. northeners generally have chips on their shoulders - and southerners usually have big mouths.. midlanders have the best sense of humour and the best football teams ;)
