Re: [313] detroit=stagnation...hardcore=progression
It's pretty sad to see someone judge the quality of music by the power of the bass. Too true. We might as well all be listening to Techmaster P.E.B. @ 170db in a dropped mini-truck if we lived in Dance Extacy's world. **WARNING THIS CD MAY CAUSE SPEAKER DAMAGE. ULTRA LOW BASS** -M
Re: [313] submit designs for list t-shirt
I thought that this was a shirt for the list not DEMF. They are too separate things no? While all of the designs are nice, I'd like to cast my vote for the 909 design. If anyone's counting... -Matty [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: doesn't hurt to ask, bro. have a nice day _g_ In a message dated 6/6/00 8:28:49 AM, Mrwest99 writes: After all the hubub about Alan not spinning at DEMF, you don't honestly think he would design a shirt for it do you? Re: (313)Help!!
The release you're talking about are Thomas Brinkmann records. They're from the Max Ernst series. So far as I can tell there are 10 or 11 releases in the series thus far. Take a close look at the vinyl and you'll notice that you can actually see the music pressed into the records. Thomas experimented using knives to cut grooves into some of his records (from the center out, perpendicular to the grooves in the record). If the tempo of the vinyl is 133 1/3 bpm the cuts translate into sounds that keep time. The Max Ernst series is an extension of this experimentation. Thomas presses the vinyl in such away that you can actually see the music. Take a close look and you'll see what I mean. Max Ernst = 1 - Anna / Beate 2 - Clara / Doris 3 - Erika / Frauke 4 - Gisela / Heidi 5 - Inge / Jutta 6 - Karin / Lotte 7 - Monika / Nicola 8 - Olag / Petra 9 - Susie / Trixie 10 - Ulla / Verra - Matty Niall wrote: A few months ago I picked up a record simply titled Ulla b/w Vera, two tracks on each side of deep dubby techno with the titles in orange print on a lilac label - absolutely no other information on it. Last week I then found Susie b/w Trixie with orange print on a black label, again nothing other than the name! Does anyone know anything about these? I'm guessing that the alphabetical sequence 'S/T' 'U/V' is not just a coincidence and that there is (possibly!) 11 or so more of them out there. If anyone's got any info on who's to take the credit for these or what the others in the series are like, I would greatly appreciate it as I do think these 2 are rather good. Re: (313) Rave betty Barbie and DJ Ken
Many of us who came up in the early days listened, observed, paid attention, respected the people who had been before us and learned about the music and the scene. Sadly, that's not always the case when you go to a rave these days. I have a feeling that there were just as many people, percentage wise, that acted the way some of the newcomers are. There are just a lot more people involved in the scene in one way or another now so number wise it probably appears that the are more idiots... There have always been idiots and there always will be. Just learn to ignore them. -Matty
Re: (313) Fiebar
Not sure about a Hawtin mix, there are none as far as I can tell from the, limited, liner notes. Rhythms Silhouettes by Leandro Gamez on Fiebar is a great LP. It's funky, and the tracks don't all sound interchangeable like so many of today's double packs. I just wish I could find more releases by this guy. Anyone? -Matty Dave Clark wrote: Yes, my mistake. It was Leandro Gamez who did that funky techno effort on Fiebar. The reason I thought it was hawtin was due to the shopkeeper telling me it was some sort of hawtin remix - any info on this? Maybe it's a remix of a hawtin track (or maybe I'm completely wrong and hawtin has nothin to do with it). Either way it's pretty cool. Dave __ Do You Yahoo!? Talk to your friends online with Yahoo! Re: (313) 7
The Modernist Explosion's 1999 double pack comes with a live 7 of archetechno and one other track that slips my mind right now. Archetechno is a great detroitish track. As a matter of fact the whole double pack is worth giving a listen too. Anyone know any other J. Berger releases to keep an eye out for? -Matty oOo Caltrop oOo wrote: There's also a radio-friendly version of Laidback's White Horse with Sun Shine Reggea on the flip side :) Chris __ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com
