Fw: [313] autechre anyone?

2001-05-29 Thread RocketKids
hey,
i saw em down here in germany, they were absolutely awesome,,,lots of
custom stuff on the satge.,,.,,powerbook,,
some analogue,,and the sound was great. the only thing not that good was
that they
played in a club where normally bad techno is played,,and the crowd (+-50
persons) didnt know
whos autechre and what music they do,so they just stood there
listening,,,
but for me it was one of the best gigs ive seen this millennium..

Personally, I'm a big Stewart Walker fan. The guy's got some amazing
stuff.
Pretty much anything of his is good. Also, check out the THX series with
Theorem vs (fill in the name), quality stuff there too.

from my own point of view, i just seem to be buying old(er) techno
records,
circa '90 to '97. there seems to be so many classic tunes from this period
(most of which i failed to buy when they first came out - poor student
days), but nowadays the releases that must be bought, for me, are few and
far between. all my favourite tunes were made in the mid to early '90s.

few producers, it seems, are making exciting deep dance-floor techno now.
the last brilliant record that i bought was stefan robbers release on
ifach,
but its sound harks back to days of eevolute.

kanzleramt seem to be making quality music these days, as are technasia,
but
can any of you extremely knowledgable people recommend any other labels
that
i might be missing out on (besides your established big names like tresor,
planet e, kompakt)? i love the stuff on raygun (especially the fabrice lig
and frame six releases), if that's a clue to my techno tastes (not a
massive
fan of the hard minimal side).

hope people can point me in the right direction.

cheers, aidan

you can soak them, water wont harm the record at all, use rubbing alcohol
if
there's glue on them...

My question is why do people hide there records so much?

That's not a sarcastic question, I'm serious. Why, particularly with
detroit, is techno tracks totally hidden?

My former music teacher used to learn from him. Some
of the stories are amazing. For example he told me
how they used to have many tape loops stretched the
length of a big hall and play them. The tape cutting
techniques they used sound so tedious, using thousands
of splices and joining them (does anybody no what the
average amount of splices were for the first detroit
stuff). Aparently they would splice lots of
prerecorded tape and stick them all on the wall and
then randomly put it back togeather. The first synths
they used were as big as whole rooms.
Personly i find stockhausens music damn scary but very
interesting.
My teacher said the last thing he heard that
stockhausen was working on was a 24 hour oprah.

Crazy!
