Re: (313) fast forward show?
Are you guys using internet explorer? Do you have quicktime installed? I found that when I was using IE it appeared to load very very slowly, I got busy doing something else and forgot about the window. Then it finished and started playing using the quicktime plugin. Try copying and pasting the link into another window and see if it gives you the option to download it. Unfortunately you can't right click and do save as from the flash interface. I ended up using a different web browser (Opera) to download them. -Sam On Sun, 7 Dec 2003 21:29:26 +0100 recycleordie [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: same ,temp malfunction or 2 late good luck i hope you'll hear them soon rod - Original Message - From: Ivan Tomasevic [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: 313@hyperreal.org Sent: Sunday, December 07, 2003 4:40 PM Subject: (313) fast forward show? i can't seem to download them from www.alanoldham.com. anyone experiencing same problems? regards ivan --
(313) Best trades or offers..
Hey all, Just wondering what everyone's best record trades, or offers have been. I've been slowly entering my collection into Discogs.com and everyonce in a while I will get an email asking me if I'd be willing to trade. I haven't done it yet since I have only one copy of just about everything in my collection. But today I received an email from someone offering me three new records from his store (it's been mentioned on here before so I am pretty sure it's legit) in exchange for my copy of Daniel Wangs Mechanical Birds EP. I had to say no, because like I said I only have the one copy. But it was pretty tempting. -- -Sam

I'm no spotter but I googled that phrase and there were some links to references about Quentin Tarantion's From Dusk To Dawn -Sam - Original Message - From: Tom Churchill [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: 313 313@hyperreal.org Sent: Tuesday, August 12, 2003 3:35 PM Subject: (313) A world so deep, so liquid... Another request for 313's champion spotters on behalf of a friend... Where does the vocal sample on 51 Days' deep house classic 'Paper Moon' on Touche come from? The one that goes: 'Enter a world of your deepest thoughts and desires. A world so deep, so liquid, emanating from your soul...' You can hear the vocal in question in isolation on this extract from an old Farley and Heller Essential mix... http://homepage.ntlworld.com/wjh2401/recordsale/enteraworld.mp3 They've obviously got hold of the original source that 51 Days sampled it from, but does anyone know what this original source is? Many thanks in advance... Tom
(313) More of The Sh*t
I finally had a chance to try my hand at this remixing business.. I'm not totally happy with it, but I think it is decent enough to post. Check http://www.sewm.org/music.html to download it. Any constructive criticism would be greatly appreciated, off list though so I am not publicly humiliated. Only privately :) -Sam
Re: (313) Splinterfaction, Art Forrest, etc.
I got mine from hmv.com but it was special order and I had to wait almost a month for them to get a copy of it, but then only a couple days after that. -Sam - Original Message - From: Matthew MacQueen [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] org [The Music Institute] (E-mail) 313@hyperreal.org Cc: Tristan Watkins [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Tuesday, November 26, 2002 11:13 AM Subject: RE: (313) Splinterfaction, Art Forrest, etc. Where are you finding this Soul In Motion comp? (313) Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Cybotron's Clear
Hey all, not sure how many of you play video games but thought I might mention this on the list. I got a copy of this game and one of the radio stations in the game plays Cybotron Clear. I haven't heard it yet, but it's in the manual, the same station also plays Herbie Hancock Rockit and some Afrika Bambaata, sorry can't remember the name of the track. The station is the Rap/Hip-Hop station in the game and they also have Grandmaster Flash and Whodini on the station. And for those of you who don't know it's set in the 80's in a city very similar to Miami. Some of the other stations play stuff like Blondie, Spandau Ballet and Flock of Seagulls. The game is from Rockstar Games, they also licensed some Transmat tracks for their Midnight Club game that came out a while ago.. Just thought people would want to know about the 313 taking over the video games! -Sam
(313) Carl Craig Todd Sines in Toronto this weekend?
Hello all, Trying to hunt down some info on Todd Sines Overlap Release party. On the planet-e site there isn't any information about it. However in the Google cache there is some stuff saying that it is on this Saturday the 26th at the Mockingbird. On Todd's scalestudio.com site it says Octover 2002 Date TBA. Does anyone know when this is actually happening? I missed Carl Craig last time he was in Toronto, and I have yet to see Todd at all. By the way, I reckon Akufen's remix of Cabaret Voltaire's 'Nag Nag Nag' (out soon on Mute) is the remix of the year so far. does anyone know of any live mixes of akufen on the net. streaming, mp3, what ever? scotto ps. on the CV note. if anyone has a copy of tres mantras and there will to part with get with me. went with that batch of evapirated (stolen) vinyl. - To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] - To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] - To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Re: [313] final scratch == Very Appealing for these reasons ==
Hi all.. I'm a bit of a BeOS geek, I still have it installed on my pc at home.. BeOS was a revolutionary new OS when it was first released. Basically the theory behind it was, throw out all the crud and mess from the legacy operating systems (windows macos) and start fresh. This created a great os that had awesome speed and flexability. I could throw out lots of buzz words here but, I won't. This ground-up redesign is what allows BeOS to have things like low audio latency. It was designed to be the media os. It is partially true that BeOS code can run on both Intel Pentium and PowerPC chips, however you do have to recompile the code. Unfortunately when Apple released computers with the G3 (and later G4) PowerPC processor they were unwilling to provide specs to outside companies about important motherboard chipsets that interfaced with the processors. BeOS has never run on the G3 or G4 processor. Anyways I think others have mentioned that Final Scratch will be released for Mac OS X eventually, and also Linux. So eventually you will be able to run it on your current up-to-date apple ibook or powerbook. -Sam - Original Message - From: Jayson B. I'll keep buying vinyl, I love listening to it at home and almost all the music I own in on wax, but come on, get that heavy record bag off my shoulder and I'm a happy camper. if i'm correct, finalscratch still runs on the BE operating system. And while i know it only comes with the pc version, if you bought the mac version, there's no reason why final scratch wouldn't work on it. that was one of the beautiful things about the Be os; although you could use either a mac or a pc with the Os, anything that would work on Be Pc would work on the Be Mac. anyone know anything different? _ MSN Photos is the easiest way to share and print your photos: http://photos.msn.com/support/worldwide.aspx - To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] - To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Re: [313] new Wired magazine - laptop techno
I just finished reading this issue.. In particular the Six Machines that changed the music world article was rather good, lots of mentions of detroit artists. They talk about how Derrick May's To Be or Not to Be was hard to master because of the phasing was to great it would cause the mastering needle to burn out. Also there's some stuff in there relevant to the recend Dan Bell discussion. A description from Josh Wink about his Akai S950 and how he used it to create Don't Laugh. Apparently he had 3 hours sleep in 3 days and was so tired all he could do was laugh, so he sampled his laughter and added some 303 and 909. By accident he hit the value transpose knob and the sample was pitched down an octave. -Sam - Original Message - From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: 313@hyperreal.org Sent: Thursday, April 11, 2002 4:10 PM Subject: [313] new Wired magazine - laptop techno The newest issue of Wired (with, eech, Moby on the cover) is their music issue. Good article on laptop techno music and the software/programming involved feat. Kid 606, Monolake, and others (can't recall all in it). Plus a little history on some machines that have made the sound of house and techno - 808, 303, etc. MEK - To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
[313] Recordtime
Hello all.. I'm going to be at a computer conference this weekend which is being held in near the Detroit Metropolitan Airport. While I will be busy most of the weekend attending the conference (which my employer is paying for) I will have time to sneak out and do some record shopping. I am definitely going to go to RecordTime, and want to know their hours of operation. How early are they open in the mornings on weekdays? Are they open on sundays? If so what hours.. I might only have time to drop in on my way home (i'm driving from Toronto). Also, I know that they have two locations.. Does one have a better selection than the other, or are they both the same? I will probably go to the roseville location, since maps.yahoo.com doesn't seem to know where the ferndale one is. Thanks for any help.. -Sam PS The computer conference I'm attending is rubi-con any other computer geeks on this list gonna be there?? - To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

(313) Record Shops in London..
Hello everyone.. I'm off to england for a few days next week and I was wondering if people had any suggestions on shops to visit in London. I already know about Tag in Soho as I went there last time I was in the UK. I know this is a reocurring topic, but I wanted to get the latest info as shops might have closed or new ones opened since it was last discussed.. Thanx and I appreciate your time.. -Sam MacCutchan
