Re: [313] Fade In Techno

2002-02-28 Thread danito
Bad Boy:The Advent . one of my favorite tracks of all time. it fades in and
i love it. sometimes, when i play it in the middle of the set, i will cut
the table off just to lef this track FADE in. or if not i can mix the fade
into the current record(s) that is/are playing. imo the fade in or out is a
key element of a lot of techno. it fades in, then bombs the speakers with a
huge kick or what have you. the drum programming in spastik fades in also,
and there is DEFINATELY nothing wrong with that.

I was just thinking about how odd this discussion is.

Any other musician in any other genre makes music for one purpose, for
ppl
  to listen.

Only in electronic music are producers expected to make music, not for
listening, but for other ppl to use as tools.

i'm not a dj, but i think anyone who complains because a track fades in
is
an arrogant ass. what makes you think that producers should be concerned
with your needs as a dj. if you don't like it, producer your own tracks.

besides, anyone who 'needs' that opening kick to mix a record certainly
can't be that good of a dj. masters like mills barely play one minute of
a
record, let alone the full 5. i'm sure he just smirks at you and shakes
  his head.

guy was asking, where did you get this? i want one too!. he was so
disappointed when i told him that its quite old one and probably quite
 hard to find nowadays.

 some of the top
performers will be regular detroit favorites such as
Lisa Lashes, Judge Jules, Paul Oakenfold and a
 performance by 313 favorite, Moby...also a special
rare performance by dubiously named godfather of
 detroit techno...Cat Stevens!...the master of
ceremony this year will be none other then the lovable
 scamp carrot top,

this was *so* last year. Although i understand that being a member of the
super underground elite requires everyone to constantly show their
superiority over the mainstream by tossing out such witty and crass
comments
on a regular basis, but i just find this so old.

All i'm gonna say is lets just hold off on the

DEMF-is-so-commercial-now-i-remember-back-in-the-day-when-it-was-so-undergro
und-because-i'm-old-school
UNTIL the lineup and everything is announced. Sometimes people on this
list
are so ready to pounce and attack something, and *you* don't even know
what's going on with it yet.

As far as i know, k-hand took over cc's position. can anyone confirm
this?

Now if oakie, or tall paul, or any of those sleazebags DO appear on the
lineup, then go ahead and rip the festival to shreds. But lets try to
hold
 off on that for now.

as far as i know, and from some pics i have seen they appear to be
black...Mr Angel was obviously heavily influenced by Detroit judging by
his
production sound. As far as more recently though, i don't think he has
done
anything. Trevor Rocklife has done some work with Blake Baxter and plays
out some good quality records...if that is what you are looking for on the
 Europe tip.

Just wanted to hear about Black artists and their influence on the music
we all know and love TECHNO. Now we all know about the role a few
Detroiter's had in the beginning. I'm more interested in hearing about
more recent influences. Guys like Titonton Duvante, and Charles Noel
come to mind. How about Europe?
  Anyone...?

Re: [313] Don't forget the Wizard!

2002-01-28 Thread danito
this fashion thread is pretty lame.

as far as mills not playing techno anymore, that is no big thing to me,
seeing how he has been to the detroit area like twice in the past seven
years. he hasn't rocked it since sickness anyway, so i am not all that
bent up about it. if i lived in the UK it might have more of an impact on
me, cause they get to see him more often there. i have always thought of
mills as an overrated techno snob..i mean why does he even have three tables
if he never uses three at once. i have never seen or heard a mix of his
where he didn't trainwreck. i never held that agianst him for some reason
though. he could just throw on step to enchantment and that would make his
set. the main thing i will miss is his use of the 909. oh well

 hi tim,,
i could share your attitude concerning the what to wear topic,
but i do live in germany and if you would have been to a technoparty over
 here
in the last 3 years you would probably think the same way peter does.
its such a f***huge fashion thing, its become a thing about how to wear
what
and how to get his hair dressed up to stand 6 inches high,,,not to mention
 the accesories
it happened to me more than once that a absolutely clueless doorkeeper (is
 it called like that??)
told me im not going to get to that party because im not dressed the
proper
 way
and my hair isnt styled and i dont wear that neglace you have to wear if
you
 are into
 techno.and so on.
you see,,,i really love to see mills teaching the crowd...
because thats also what means techno or music at all for me,,
 learning and teachingunderstanding..

Too many. that might not be his or my style, but telling people what to
 wear
is too much attitude. it goes against everything that first attracted me
 to
house music. we don't need that sort of ego, and people need to wise up
 and
realise who is paying who's wages.

[313] track id

2002-01-24 Thread danito
laurent garnier, i love techno, about 16 mins. into his set. it is like the 5th
record he spins. lots of crowd noise in the background while it is playing. he
also uses the efx on the pioneer a lot when the record is playing. mills also
uses it in his i love techno set also, about 5 or 6 tracks after jaguar. the
one mills uses seems to be a different mix of it though. thanks, dan.
