"Trance is basically house music (it's sometimes referred to as "epic" or "progressive house"), but with an emphasis on hypnotic rhythms and pretty melodies" H The way I see it, trance is basically Electronic Body Music wearing the emperor's new clothes !!

I heard this wonderful record yesterday by a Rashid-Salam and Mad Mike himself called "D' Old Skool Dances" (Zero Degrees, ZDR001). It's a very simple 808 drumbeat with a few sampled chord stabs and som silly vocal samples that go: "Jit jit jit Smurf ... Smurf" Errol Flynn Errol Flynn" Schoolcraft ... Schoolcraft" I would love to hear from some of you Detroiters how these dances look. Errol Flynn ?? Schoolcraft ??? Enlighten me, please ! - Rasmus PS: If anyone knows where I can find this record, don't hold back!! PPS: Who the f**k is Rashid-Salam ?!?
Sv: (313) The Dubplate Thing
Ahem. I really hate to take this any further, since it's totally off topic. However, this is straight up BS... In the British d'n'b scene it is customary that almost all releases are distributed on dubplates to the dj's who control the scene a few months before they get a commercial release. It is a well known fact that it is virtually impossible to break through as a drum'n'bass DJ in England if you don't have these plates, and if you're not down with Goldie and Grooverider you won't get them. > You have know idea what you're talking about. Sv: (313) Deep/Minimal Techno DJ's
I heard Doc play in Sweden a couple of years ago and I also did an interview with him. He was good at giving interviews but a pretty mediocre DJ. Unfortunately it seems that the only drum'n'bass DJ's who do trick-mixing and scratches and stuff all belong to the cheasier category. For instance, DJ Hype (True Playaz) is a great DJ but his taste in music stinks. Straight jump-up all the way. But I guess all that is off topic, so I'll shut up now :) Peace /rasmus > Given that this is 313, maybe start with Doc Scott, whose roots lie in > techno and is himself an ardent follower of Derrick May and Kevin > Saunderson.
