Re: [313] taking off labels

2001-03-11 Thread ice-a

Hell, we booked Doc Scott for one of our events at the end of march, and
on
the flier, we put dropping the freshest dub-plates, we don't care about
that, we just care if the DJ is skilled or not...

dub plates are possibly the most important (and topical) part of drum and
bass at present, its not like techno

Hi guys

Just trying to work out what is the best way to remove the paper label from
a record without damaging it too much? i know some of you have done it
before :)

Just listening to Hanna's 'Scarlet Manifesto' CD on Shadow. Having heard
his
stuff on Planet E, Nepenta, Track Mode (the new one just promoed) etc, I
was
surprised to discover that this LP is drum'n'bass! Not many producers can
cross the genres like this. Couldn't really tell you if it's any good
though - d'n'b ain't my thing. No idea what I'm going to write in the
review
 either!

'the true rebels always walk alone'
Read Bens msg yesterday and I recalled hearing the the above quote, but
for the hell of me
coundnt remember where. So rushed home and dug out E-Z Rollers - Retro, a
jazzy d+b
number from 97 on which the following message can be heard. Is this too,
 Derrick May I wonder ?

Sad in the 20th century, in the 1990s, we still have to go thru the same
bullshit
route that other artists had to go to get acceptance. If it wasnt for the
independents,
if it wasnt for the small little cities, and the few little ghetto guys
trying to make music,
it would of never happened. Some of these guys will never make a dime.
Some of
these guys will be poor and die alone. But in the process theve been the
true rengrades.

i actually only have that on one of the moving shadow MS99.02 series, i
think thats the last track on it! and on that cd its not even drum and bass,
more a downtempo breaky thing..

The complete full quote comes in at about 1.00min, as you say
very good sample said with tear jerking passion, and then

But in the process theve been the true rengrades.
And the true rebel always walks alone anyway

is repeated at the very end.

why ask stupid questions; if you like, you like it, no matter what other
people think about it. and yes, imho, naked music is one of the saviours
of the house music - polished production, perfectly engineered, beautiful
songs. although, they are a bit similar.. so what :)

Anything from $12 to $21, however I'd say $18 is a fairly standard price.

i pay $20 for a 12 at my mate's shop (clinic) to help them out a bit rather
