if you like the ugly edits make your own. just download pro tools (there is
a free version that has everything you need for an edit) and cut and paste.
it's really simple.

hi folks. a few days ago i was at bent crayon[cleveland, ohio record
shop]... just shuffling through the stacks. at the end of my digging, and
as i was making my purchase, i was offered the chance to lay hands upon and
play the 2nd and 3rd ugly edits EP's. damn! it's some brilliant
material! i am by no means a funk and disco historian so it was a wonderful
opportunity to hear some great cut-ups. sadly, the EP's were not for
sale... part of john's private collection. i just wish to convey that it's
a D A M N shame that these titles are not readily available to those of us
who A L S O know. i mean, i understand the legalties that one has to
consider when releasing a work that is sick with uncleared, and i guess
fairly obvious samples... but i promise, i won't tell anybody where i got
the record from. i'll only play it through headphones, late at night.
right now, there are auctions involving these very releases... the
bidding is up to $35.00+ with several days to go until closing. fah! oh
well. wouldn't it be great if releases by artists like theo and kenny and
keith and shake and so forth were actually mass-produced like so many
britney spears records. imagine stepping into a rite-aid and picking up
shades of jae on mint vinyl for a few bucks. that and a cold yoo-hoo
 would be sweet. : )
sorry for the rant.. i'm just a tad frustrated. curse you.. i mean happy
 listening you ugly edits owners.
 peace

2002-10-28 Thread jurren baars

someone asked for a tracklist on those ugly edits a couple of days ago, and
i don't know if your questions have been answered yet, so here it goes:

UGE 1:
A. made in the usa 'never let you go' re-edit
B. jill scott 'slowely surely' remix

UGE 2:
A? harold melvin the bluenotes 'the love i lost' re-edit
B. ?
  ?

UGE 3:
A. freddie hubbard 'little sunflower' re-edit
B. sylvester 'dance (disco heat)' re-edit

as far as i know most of these tunes are not that hard to come by, and the
re-edits can be easily re-done using your computer, and burn them to a cd.
so why is everyone forking over rediculous amounts of cash to obtain these
items? [apart from the jill scott remix, which is superb!]
is it just collectors investing in these items on ebay? do we really need
everything on vinyl instead of cd? am i being a hypocryt for asking this,
glued to my computer waiting for the next item on ebay that i desperitally
need? i probably answered my own questions...
