Re: (313) John Acquiviva
time square is usually a cheesy club, but they've done a cpouple of good events with outside promoters. Paxahau did Get Yo Bug On there with Steve Bug. Its a small place, only about 400 people. Decent brick decor, although I hear they cheesed it out with some absurd Roman piller type facade. Its located just North of the Book-Cadillac building, just east of the Ramada (site for Hawtin and Planet-E parties last year) On Tue, 20 May 2003, ::) wrote: johns playing at times square in detroit this sunday does anyone know what the hell that is? I take back what I said, I now see why the detroiters like him so much. He spun a few hours last night (1-4) @ tronic and banged it out, with some funk though. There was no stopping him, not even Christian Smith getting there around 3 to spin ;) I especially liked when he dropped Purists Kill Techno, except that it sounded slightly different from my version. Does anyone know if John edits the tracks he plays? He was on final scratch... -Pete --- Peter Grammenos Goldman Sachs Co. Tel : 212.902.2446 ---

The Kooky Scientist was supposed to appear @ Tronic Treatment last night with John Acquaviva. I was supposed to pick John up in Springfield on Sunday and drive down together but my broken front axle refused to magically repair itself. Car repairs forced me to stay home. At this time it is impossible to do any gigs for free. Tronic Treatment is one of those situations where they don't have the budget to cover any transportation costs. Sad really. NYC is the center of the universe yet has no budget to support a night like that. I know that locally, the Phoenix Landing in Cambridge, MA gets a budget together for a Wednesday club. Tomorrow Bryan Zentz is in town. FYI, John does do editing of tracks which he then plays on Final Scratch. telepathic regards, fRED -- Upcoming Live Electronic Demonstrations: Absolutely None -- TELEPATHICA - P.O.B.80337 - Boston, MA 02180-0010 *new CL # 617.905.9619 and FAX 781.944.8996 http://www.mp3.com/fredgiannelli http://telepathica.com **New E-addresses* [EMAIL PROTECTED] and/or [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Speaking of live PAs -- book Tony. He bangs it! Some of my favorite Rotation nights in Iowa City came courtesy of the Hidden Agenda crew. Who could ever forget Dietrich Schoenemann jumping the curb into someone's front yard in a rented Subaru Outback? Oh, and they play good techno too! Paxahau had an event there not too long ago (Times Square Detroit). It's normally one of those places where you have to lay down a credit card to get a reserve booth, etc. They usually don't play proper techno (that I know of).
