There are other free email services that work.  Some of them are alot
better than hotmail aswell.

I think you'll be OK with this address as long as you don't unsubscribe and
try to resubscribe with it later. I think you're sort of 'grandfathered in',
as it were. That said, you may not want to scream about the fact that you
are already subscribed with it. ;) This rule has been in place for at least
a couple of years. I think the general idea behind it is that people are
less likely to SPAM or troll on the list if they have to use a service they
pay for - i.e. it would likely be their primary account rather than
something fake. I imagine people are grandfathered in because if they're
already a responsible member of the community with a free address, then
there's less reason to force them to get a new address.
