Using self-written software to create a unique world of non-linear beats,
complex musical structure and sweeping sounds, Robert Henke, aka Monolake,
is renown for his mélange of sonic atmospheres and minimal techno
undercurrents. Having issued recordings on Chain Reaction and his own
Imbalance label, Henke is one of the most influential and compelling live
acts to emerge from Berlins 1990s underground electronic music scene.
Equally celebrated for his legendary looping application, Abletons Live,
over the course of five albums, several 12s and remixes, Monolake is one
of those rare visionaries for whom technology and art are interchangeable.
Henke returns to Recombinant Media Labs after a year hiatus to push new
sound and just in time for the release of the Invisible Force single on [ml/i].
Scott Monteith, aka Deadbeat, is one of the key musicians in Montreals
burgeoning, fertile DIY electronic music scene. Co-founder of the local
multimedia collective Covert Ops, Deadbeats clicks and cuts take a
backseat to a dark, plodding distinctly Jamaican dub electroskank. With
record releases and compilation appearances on various labels including
Background, Force Inc, Revolver, Onitor and ~Scape, Deadbeats work to date
has been met with critical acclaim both at home and abroad.
