RE: (313) a couple of threads...
calling fergie a techno dj (as radio1 do) is taking the mick is that a double joke cos he's irish :) but yeah I have to agree. There was a time when Dave Clarke used to do a show but it got canned and then they talked about Carl Cox doing one but it never happened. Shame really cos they have every other type music covered on specific shows but not Techno...to be sure to be sure :) -Original Message- From: robin pinning [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: 06 May 2003 14:41 To: Grammenos, Peter Cc: 313@hyperreal.org Subject: RE: (313) a couple of threads... hasn't mills, hawtin, etc... been on radio 1? yeah as guest essential mixes etc.don't get me wrong i'm not complaining but i find it odd that techno/electro and house aren't really supported by radio1 with a full time weekly slot. calling fergie a techno dj (as radio1 do) is taking the mick robin... -Original Message- From: robin pinning [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Tuesday, May 06, 2003 8:05 AM To: 313@hyperreal.org Subject: Re: (313) a couple of threads... fair point... i could imagine dave clark doing it tho... ok, so if techno is so overground here why is there no techno show on BBC radio1?? actually same for quality house too... probs a good thing, thinking about it robin... just picking up on some of the last few threads the 'why isn't techno a bit bigger in the US thing' and the ipod thing was thinking - I wouldn't have thought that in the UK you'd get Apple paying a bunch of fairly underground music artists to promote their new product. RE: (313) a couple of threads...
Tho to be fair the essential mix seems to have recovered recently with them actually having some credible acts (DJ heather, massive attack, dj shadow etc). Ive not seen a techno EM in a while but there seem to be a reasonbale amount of folk popping up on guest spots in other shows. But yeah shame theres no dedicated techno/electro type show - guess its just not commercially viable enough for r1 :/ maybe its time to get a council flat, microwave transmitter and some 313 12s together !! -Original Message- From: ian cheshire [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Tuesday, May 06, 2003 3:07 PM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED]; Grammenos, Peter Cc: 313@hyperreal.org Subject: RE: (313) a couple of threads... calling fergie a techno dj (as radio1 do) is taking the mick is that a double joke cos he's irish :) but yeah I have to agree. RE: (313) a couple of threads...
Just to clarify: *Colin Dale [one 'l' in the first name; uk pronounciation ;-) - (also?) had a show on Kiss 100 FM from about 1998 until about 2000 (IIRC). *Kiss was a legal station by then. The show was on late pm Tuesday into early am Wednesday (again, someone pls correct me if I err.). (I'm not sure abt any show he might have had on Kiss before it was legal.) When it got pulled - the whole rationale at the time was that Mr C's Saturday night-into early Sunday morning show (still much healthier than sleeping pills) was to replace not only Dale's show, but quite a few other programmes on Kiss which were meant to represent slightly more underground dance music than one would get in Kiss prime time slots. And doesn't he do it well?!? k -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Tuesday, May 06, 2003 3:30 PM To: 313@hyperreal.org Subject: Re: (313) a couple of threads... there was Collin Dale, Abstrakt Dance?
