ok, so
the tracks are all very sparse and dare i say minimal in the real sense of
the word. not over produced to hell clickhouse minimalism and a very
repetitive tracks, like most of ford's output.
my favourite tracks are the ones on side a - Very and Test.
Very has a lovely warm synth pads going on underneath that gives it a summer
and sunny feel to itit reminds me of those shimmering effects you see
when heat rises off of the ground when seen from a distance.
the rhythms are puntuated by plodding toms and some bouncing rimshots. a
subtle snare comes in to give the track more groove. another delayed (but
only just) cymbal comes in to wake you from the siesta.
laidback and understated and all very looped
Test is more typical baby ford darkness starting with a circular and low
bass loop with toms and single snares punding away on top, interspersed with
some random wizz sound. gradually a more acidic flangerised plucking sound
comes into the mix and then the loop gets stronger and changes pitch in a
gradual crescendo and starts tweaking around. nice and dark, a little evil
too - a total contrast to the previous summer vibez :) play this loud.
im not going to bother with the other 2 tracks since i have to leave (and
since i didnt like them). what i can say is that the are more or less in
line with the whole release, few sounds looping around, changing in subtle
ways from start to finish, so it would seem that nothing much is going on,
when instead it is. a bit like evolution.
