insurence for your records is kind of tricky, it's best to contact your insurence company to find out how they're going to cover loss/damage/etc. ánd what you'll need to do to get covered.

just writing down what you own, usually is NOT enough! most insurence companies ask for photos of specific records/all the records. or you can take a video camera, and go through your collection, showing at least your most valuable records, and a shot of the entire collection. in that case they'll get an idea of the volume of your record collection, and proof of ownership of your most priced possesions.
