Sorry if the point of my post wasn't immediately clear. I was trying
to make a joke about Canadian broadcasting propping up "Canadian
content", and the nasty side of nationalism. Oh well. Back to your
regularly scheduled nonsense.

Would you prefer the American Olympics broadcast and all of
*that* nasty nationalism?

O, Canada: thank goodness for you!

I watched it from Berlin and that's how it was too.

Canadian Broadcasting all but dubbed "overdose" back over the top of
it Oh, wait, i'm confusing an Olympic overdose with actual
lyrics. sorry.

Hawtin says the recording, titled "9:20," features elements that
should be familiar to fans of his adventurous electronic works. But
it's also something of a departure for him -- a sculpted cinematic
piece that he has called a "mini-movie." The song will be heard
during the choreographed segment of the opening ceremonies,
following the parade of nations and introduction of dignitaries.

I watched it last night and the ceremony was silly pretentious bombastic
nonsense (quite fittingly for Richie Haircut I suppose) - it was hard to
keep a straight face

Until a dress rehearsal Wednesday night, the entire piece was "all theoretical," envisioned by
Hawtin only through Cosimi's verbal directions, pictures and diagrams. Mercifully, he says, his
contribution to the work is pre-recorded so he can just sit back and watch the spectacle unfold
once again today.
