(313) urgent! L.A help needed!
Hello. I'm after some urgent help! My mate is off to LA in about 3 hrs and the dozy git just phoned me to ask about record shops. So, anyway, I remember some time ago a nice chap told me about a killer 2nd hand shop in LA, I think its quite well known. But the name escapes me. (famous disco digging spot?) can anyone provide any links, or has any info? even names of shops would be great, any leads at all much appreciated. I think 2nd hand shops are what he's after, old 12's more than likely or, any distribution warehouses, digging spots, anything he might find the odd rare piece or two. Many thanks, Alex erm, also, for the factory fans on the list, I picked up a massive bunch of postcards advertising the Peter Saville show here in Manchester last night, quite nice set of 4 postcards, they were free, if anyone wants a set please hit me back with your address and I'll post some out to you. I work in a postroom so no worries if you're abroad or anything. _ - End of message text This e-mail is sent by the above named in their individual, non-business capacity and is not on behalf of PricewaterhouseCoopers. i don't know about the famous disco digging spot (though i'd love to), but WAX (on melrose) is doc martin's shop and is certainly staffed by proper house-heads who could prolly point him in the right direction. -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Friday, February 06, 2004 8:26 AM To: 313@hyperreal.org Subject: (313) urgent! Actually- I believe Doc left Wax, although I hear its pretty solid. I believe Marc was just there... Ameoba is the crazy big store. Row after row after row of new and used EVERYTHING. That's up on Sunset at Ivar Arons on Highland is a bit more managable, though not nearly as extensive. They do however have listening stations which Ameoba does not. I've also cruised through Beat Non Stop (near Wax). Didn;t spend much time, but it seemed like a solid place for techno. Can;t vouch for how deep' their bins go. I found some great stuff at WAX while I was in LAtheir used bins are chock full of Techno goodies for like 2.99 - 5.99. It's definitely worth a look.
