[313] The history of house music retold!

2001-05-14 Thread Joost P .
Maybe this was already covered on 313, but:

http://deephouse.biostat.wisc.edu/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topicf=1t=000825
(this will probably be displayed broken)

This is a link on www.deephousepage.com I just discovered to a messageboard
thread. The most amazing thread I have ever read in my life! It is a piece of
genuine and revolutionary house music history, told by the people who were
actually there, in the middle of the scene at the beginning of the 80's.

It's 7 pages long, but definately a must read for everybody interested in the
history of underground dance music. And even if your not interested in the
history, it's still a must read, because it just such an incredible bunch of
messages.

Please do not stop after the first few messages but read on! It left me with
my mouth wide open for hours.

If you can't get the link to work, go to the messageboard on
http://www.deephousepage.com and search for a thread called LEONARD REMIX RROY

I guarantee it will be worth your while.

Joost

Wouldn't it have been nice
If house music had originated
in a club called The Elevator

OMG.. is this for real... Gawd!!! I've never heard of
Leonard watz'isface... Well, if Jimmy Saville invented
scratch mixing then I spose anything's possible... I
wanna see him up against DJ Pogo:) Thanks for that...

Later,
Nick:)

2001-05-14 Thread Jonny McIntosh
Check out his mix, too, on the main www.deephousepage.com page. Very, very
good. 2 copies, smoothly done, of almost everything. And if he didn't invent
house his box with big yellow lettered HOUSE may well catch on round mine
:)

Inspiring, at the very least.

Jonny.
