What else has Black Strobe done - and, for anyone who knows that Russ Gabriel mix, does it compare to that track? I think the remix was done in 1997 but it still sounds ridiculously advanced. The rest of that Output 3 12 is nothing to shake a stick at either... What can y'all tell me about this Riton character? (s/t)he(y) seem to be popping up a bit as well. Nice stuff! RE: (313) Black Strobe
They're currently the darlings of the British music press - their remixes are all over the place and one of them (Ivan Smugghe) keeps getting booked to DJ at all the superclubs over here. Trevor Jackson likes them cos they've released stuff on Output and they remixed Playgroup's Number One on the second Playhouse comp. -Original Message- From: Brendan Nelson [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Tuesday, February 25, 2003 4:07 PM To: 313@hyperreal.org Subject: (313) Black Strobe I'd never come across anything by Black Strobe before this weekend, when I heard Russ Gabriel's remix of Paris Acid City in a shop and had to lift my jaw off of the floor before asking for a copy... RE: (313) Black Strobe
Jockey Slut has declined a little bit cos I suppose it has to keep advertisers happy now it's a monthly London based mag (we could do without coverage of Sasha and Fatboy Slim) but thanks to the likes of Tom MF and Jonas Stone contributing to it, there's plenty of coverage of 313-related material - there was a great article on New Beat and its influence a couple of issues ago. It has published rare interviews with Jeff Mills and Mike Banks and consistently covers less well known artists that wouldn't get a look-in in other mainstream mags - Ectomorph were in their last issue. -Original Message- From: robin pinning [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Tuesday, February 25, 2003 4:33 PM To: Brendan Nelson Cc: 313@hyperreal.org Subject: RE: (313) Black Strobe | -Original Message- | From: Robert Taylor [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] | Sent: 25 February 2003 16:18 | | They're currently the darlings of the British music press... The one to get is their Innerstrings 12 on Output I believe I may have played one of the mixes (recognisable by the Ian Curtis-esque vocals) at the last 313 party... ** The information in this e-mail is confidential and may be legally privileged.
