Yeh but that's my point. I can respect a tribute. If it's well done. I personally think no music is made in a bubble, and that if we all approached our creative expressions as a tribute to our inspirations then maybe the bar might be a little higher and there wouldn't be so much crap about. That's what differentiates ugly edits/moxie style stuff from the mashup mania stuff to me. Ones done outta greed and the others done outta respect. (Mind, RDJ, theo, et al. still might come out and say they were just doing it for the cash :) I mean most uk techno I like sounds like something from detroit circa 95-99. but it's well done and interesting and I'm a sucher for interesting, well done stuff of any style.
