i have a confession as well, i'm being a bit hypocritical - i've had public
spates with the moderators at discogs and delclared i would never submit
another release.

I have to own up to this rather flip statement James. It wasn't Sakari.
Maybe I will add the release. Discogs can be mighty frustrating at times
though (despite the fact that we could barely live without it, imperfect
as it is, when it was down!)

don't complain about discogs not having an entry for a record - it's a
group project, and on ongoing project. you coulkd try adding the release
yourself.

RE: (313) Cybotron question

2005-08-25 Thread Odeluga, Ken
Just to clarify as promised:

I have the blue-labelled version of 'Cosmic Raindance' with the same
track list as this:

http://www.discogs.com/release/4878

but it looks like this:

http://www.flexx.be/result.php?type=itemNamekeyword=cybotronaction=GO

It's new-looking enough to be a repress (I bought it only about 4 years
ago) but sorry, I still haven't checked the year.

Someone suggested it's a bootleg. It's possible, but Fantasy is actually
a relatively large and long-established label. (It was founded in 1949.
Its biggest artist I believe was probably Creedence Clearwater Revival).
They service their back catalogue, including Cybotron, extensively and
regularly, with well-pressed, nicely-packaged vinyl. Therefore, I doubt
there's much of a market for bootlegs.

Anyway, I should bite my tongue really, because *we* make it what it is,
or should be, so I might have to go in there and post the definitive
version. Maybe it might be updated by this time next year! ;-)

For the record Tom, I do indeed have the *blue-labelled* version of
'Cosmic Cars' which I posted the link for yesterday.

http://www.discogs.com/release/4878

The CD 'Clear' (originally released as 'Enter') has everything tidied up
and in one place, so it's a good reference.

Thanks people. I have the ep Ken linked and it's a fine release, with
'Alleys..' on it. It's just that I am trying to figure out if there has
been a blue label Fantasy pressing of this.

I know nothing of the disc ken just linked to though.

that one is a more recent and still available version, not sure if
its a boot or a legit fantasy. i have that as well.

I keep wondering.. that 12 has the only version dating back to 80's of
Clear i've ever heard.. even that cd-reissue of Enter, named Clear
has exactly the same version. So, was there some other Original
version ever released on vinyl (or cd) back in the day?

what is the date on it? does fantasy still (or even at that time,
though i know that record still is available now) repress vinyl
records? thats a kinda curious collection of tunes to get a
pressing on the old fantasy label from out of nowhere. and
especially considering that all those tunes are available on CD,
it makes it quite possible that it is a bootleg.

Hi Tom,

Hope you enjoy 313.

Now you mention it, I'm a little uncertain now which 12 contains
'Alleys...' not this one?

http://www.discogs.com/release/4878

Or maybe it's just the colour that's throwing me? I thought Cosmic Cars
was on a disc with a blue label?

I'll check later. Anyway, it's maybe a moot point after the Tresor
repress this year? To me that sounds like a faithful cut (it might be a
bit louder but it's not compressed to kingdom come). Also, as far as I
can hear, all versions are the same.

Ken

Greetings 313. Since this is my first post, I am not sure if this wasn't
asked already recently. All of a sudden I am not so sure anymore whether
there is a 12 of 'Alleys Of Your Mind' on Fantasy (besides the ep from
a
couple of years ago). I always thought I had seen one, but since it's
not
on Discogs... A propos: is the 'Cosmic Cars' 12 from 82 (much)
different
fom the album version?

Gr,
Tom

Played cosmic cars Friday so I can say yes, it's on a blue label
(fantasy)disc. But that's the one with all just cosmic cars (Detroit
mix, short mix I think, etc.) they don't sound too different to me. More
like edits. The Detroit mix has the bassline a little higher in the mix
IIRC. I know nothing of the disc ken just linked to though.
