If you're stil around on Tuesday it's worth trying Flames. I spent a couple of hours there yesterday and their stock is excellent right now, especially for soul and jazz. The shop is down a little alley just off Woodward on Hancock, behind the abandoned Police station. Didn't enjoy Melodies so much (though that was a few years ago), pulled some good disco out there though. -Original Message- From: Michael Kuszynski [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: 25 May 2008 18:50 To: robin [EMAIL PROTECTED]; 313@hyperreal.org Subject: Re: (313) detroit record shops and recording equipment stores here now. ridiculous. so much music. heading back to ny tomorrow morning. got to work. hawtin played very nicely sounding but generic hardish techno for the first thirty minutes. then went to stand on main stage as miles maeda was closing and carl craig is doing his carl craig thing. he was talking for a few minutes of a detroit techno pep talk.
