The Ian O'Brien track (Mad Mike Disease) is wicked,

Yeah, this track is pretty damn funky. You can find it
on the Ferox album 'Desert Scores'. I think there's
also a claude young collab on there called 'grandpa's
drawers' (as in, 'funky like your granpa's drawers'
heheh).

 as are contributions
 from Kevin Yost, Vince Watson
Anyone check out the Vince Watson album 'Biologique'.
Excellent melodic techno/house stuff. What's the name
of the VinceW track on this comp?

On another note, what can we expect from Mills? Or
should we expect nothing. Also, same question but Juan
Atkins instead of mills. I remember mixed reports
about Juan when he played around the US. Opinions?

Dave

Colin Dale is great, I used to listen to the Abstrakt Dance on Kiss FM in
London way back in 1989. Wish I'd known about the internet broadcasts while
they were still on but this is the first I've heard of them :(

I picked up the Outer Limits comp on Colin's Kickin records second hand the
other week, (Outer Limits was the last hour of the show which was more
experimental). It's a really good compilation:

01 - Florence - A Touch of Heaven
02 - Liner Alba - Space Travel
03 - Outlander - Aural Scent
04 - Kinesthesia - Kobal
05 - Mystic Force - Clearlight
06 - Connective Zone - Holistic Worlds
07 - The Force Dimension - 200 FA
08 - Carl Craig - No More Words
09 - Ongaku - Mihon #2
10 - Clementine - The Opening
11 - Luke Slater - Secret Garden
12 - Four Voice - The Mystery

Ross.

I really miss Colin Dale's Abstrakt Dance internet radio show, it was
actually entertaining to listen to and it didn't put you to sleep like
most other internet/radio show's on the net.
Wish there was a show that would play all the newest techno releases
since I have to mail-order most of my vinyl, I mean how hard could it
be? Sonic Groove or Hardwax should do something like this.

 just a crazy thought,
 stephen.

Superb techno compilation.
How did Outer Limits 2 compare to this? (there was an Outer Limits
2 wasn't there?)
The Carl Craig track also later appeared on the More Songs album,
I think it's the track called Suspiria there.
Love that track - so moody!

I have #2 . Good tracks but the mixing isn't that great.

1. Ravers Suck Our Sound (Carl Craig mix)-La Funk Mob (MoWax)
2. Visine-Motorbass (Motorbass)
3. Outernational Wah-Airgoose (DNG)
4. Jam the Box-Carl Craig (RS)
5. Probe One (Medic Vibe mix)-The Vibe (Subwoofer)
6. Jerome-Norma G (Urban Sound of Amsterdam)
7. Midnight Express-Boo Williams (Relief)
8. Enter the Dragon-Tim Harper (Relief)
9. Greengirl-Dan Curtain (Sublime)
10. Losing Control (Carl Craig mix)-DBX (Peacefrog)
11. Clear-Cybotron (Fantasy)
12. Subsonic Sounscape-Shiver (Dance Arena)

Anyone have Abstract Funk Theory (Logic) that he just released?

2000-03-15 Thread Nick Craddock

Yeah - I picked up Colin's 'Abstract Funk Theory' compilation.
It's pretty nice - in a kinda melodic tech-housey/electro vane.
The Ian O'Brien track (Mad Mike Disease) is wicked, as are contributions
from Kevin Yost, Vince Watson - in fact they're all good apart from one
erm it's called 'firefly' or something and it's really cheesy - quite
bemusing how someone with usually impeccable taste put it on there in the
first place.

I liked the 'Mutant Disco' compilation a lot (actually more), but in
comparison, the material on that was a lot more raw - the tracks on 'AFT'
are really polished sounding, production-wise.

I saw Colin DJ last Wednesday at Electrocuted in Brixton. He played a mainly
electro set (H - I wonder why) but managed to work in Fix - 'Flash', and
'Blue Monday'. He also dropped that It's The Weekend.. track from the
Direct Beat compilation that someone was slating on here a few months back.
Incidentally, I think it's a great track. even on a Wednesday :-)

With regards to his mixing - He ain't a hot shot DJ technically, but as with
many, his track selection's what makes it - as you'll appreciate from his
radio shows. London's airwaves are certainly a poorer place without the man
Dale
