Re: (313) More records.
Tony Allen - Moyege - Mark Ernestus Mixes Nice slow disco dub mixes by Mark Ernestus. Nowt too ground breaking but worth a check. The Dub mix is chiming with the silly hot weather here in the UK at the mo :) listened the clips on rh, thought it was boring :P Kai Alce - Corner Manuvers - Real Soon Didn't sound that good in the shop but picked it up thinking it would sound nice at home. And it does, the Corner... track is the one for me, in the vein of Theo/KDJ, bassy and minimal but still with soul. The other side is nice but leans more to that afrohouse vibe perhaps. Still good but the other side is better imo i think it's very understated like all of kai's work, it's greatness probably dawns on you gradually...from the clips i really like both sides...really love the bassy minimal approach and nice and simply cool-feeling keys on top, great stuff for hot weather...i really love his beats, no one else makes em like that (except, a little bit our own kamal stoddard...makes sense since they are friends and both from atl) Anyone else picked anything up that's cool recently? havent picked em up yet but my picks from new stuff this past week were mark du mosch on keynote -- really love the warm housey track on the a-side! the disco-y stuff is less original but also very nice and warm and smooth and not far off from viewlexx etc booka shade in white rooms on get physical -- just like the melody/feeling in the original, dancefloor melancholy...and shinedoe's remix sounds a bit nuts (out of key) but i like it, sounding like old detroit stuff a bit.. nothing else grabbed me, except for the first round of rs represses (tronikhouse, model 500, dave angel, a.r.t.) when is UR gonna play in north carolina for peanuts (the actual nuts...they grow here and virginia)...p they ain't underground
Re: (313) More records.
Anyone else picked anything up that's cool recently? standouts from my last purchases: Afro Psychopathz feat. Timothy Baldwin - Angel (Sunshine Enterprises) Deep downtempo house from Andrew Edward Brown and Robb Scott featuring Timothy Baldwin's sweat soul voice. Apparently, Timothy isn't with us anymore and I'd really like to know if any other tunes with him are available. Best cuts are pretty stripped down - some raw sounding strings samples with a snare breaks and light bassdrum kicks, and Moog-y bass wobble. Baldwin's voice is a bit like a mid-70s Stevie Wonder. The Trevor Goodchilde mix is a piano led slow smoldering make-out session tune. The Frankie Valentine mix is definitely a 718 Session/Body Soul track - breezy and loose and lower tempo - piano and guitar with live sounding drums. The last cut, Black by Birth remix, is more broken wobbly bass - lots of low end on this, piano replaces by warm Larry Heard style pad washes, and a Spanish guitar. Nice to have a record that fits different moments in the night. Really like this one. Sileni -Twitchy Droid Leg remixes (Offshore) This one has the Titonton Duvante remix that just kills it. Offshore is a tip-top drum bass label but Titonton takes it into a broken beat acid house hip-hop thing. Going to hunt down the rest of Offshore's discog because it's good to hear drum bass that pushes the frontier again. these should be arriving this week: the Bugz's new LP Back in the Doghousealong with the Happy Days BITA boot 12 and the Move Aside 12 Max Cole - Mo High (WahWah 45s) a bit of a samba/capoeira rhythm with nice Rhodes chimes over the chopped up beat and some fat bass. The flip has more upbeat production - a little more dancefloor groove. MEK

Also has an (I think) unreleased Jeff Mills track Mosaigna - awesome tune, phat kicks. :0D -Original Message- From: Ken Odeluga [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: 30 April 2004 3:01 To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Org Subject: (313) More Records Try: 'Free' (Free-Spirit Mix) by Drivetrain on 'Motor City Dayz Vol. 1', 12 (Psycho Thrill) I missed this as a separate release on Soiree Records. 'Free' is a sky-scratching, psychedelic, libertarian retro/future deep house with vocals. You'll like it. This (12 year) anniversary EP on Psycho Thrill is great value. Also has an (I think) unreleased Jeff Mills track. k *** Opinions expressed in this email are those of the individual and not Entergy-Koch Trading Limited or its affiliated companies.
