even close. it really is the jam.

Sorry it took me so long to get back with this. I actually have been
away from my 'puter and completely forgot. Upon playing it to myself
(again) I remembered that it meant something to someone else. My bad.
Doobies for breakfast while fresh off holiday seems to do that. So
without further ado, it's this tune:

http://www.discogs.com/release/297886

except it's not the matty mixes and wasn't released on peppermint jam.
It's the original and the sting international mix. The a side is the
sting intl mix with a version. The b side is the original and a song
called beneath.

the original is a much spacier mix with the same vocal and heavier kick
and all kinds of changing pads floating eerily around. The mix you liked
was the sting international mix where evidently they did all kinds of
live instrumentation as there are drum prog, piano, trumpet, sax, bass
and keys credits on the label. It doesn't really say what the label is
that's releasing it. The runout etching says DTX006 (dance trax maybe?).
anybody good with catnumbers? Oh and the label doesn't say featuring soy
sos on mine either (or any of the other stuff I've got by them come to
think of it) it says MKL vs. SOY SOS ...way harder. Plus, I wonder how
this SOY SOS character feels about being all of a sudden relegated to
featuring. Versus sounds so much more like you're a peer. Featuring
sounds like someone's putting you on. Just thinking and drinking...
whatevs...

a crap! Right after I finished writing all of that, I got the bright
idea to search for the full mkl vs. soy sos (searching for mkl alone
yielded the above result) and found the dang record on discogs. After
all that describing and ish, here it is. And it WAS dance trax! Boo yah!

Just wobbly bass and some bouncy stabs and that guy going on. Fxcking
great tune too. I'll post the name tonite for sure.

 Hey guys

 Just a quick update NYC

Moodymann played at Shelter on the 17th, nice little party with him
playing behind a screen (no facing the front!). He'd dropped some
really great deep tracks, speak on the microphone and everyone had a
 great time.

This one track, he played i have no idea what it is but it was so very
deep ... i captured it on video on my camera:

 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d8EzVsdaJBg

[this will also give you an idea of how everyone was also dancing
 around]

Carl played at Demon nights last night. Unfort he was BAD in that it
was more of a uplifting NY sound with no SOUL.. i think Dang spent the
nite getting him to play this one track. Ok it was fun but I've seen
him funk it up big time and tonight unfort was not it. It ws probably
the crowd of 18 year olds or whatever. :(

I have come to the realisation that I prefer the relatively empty
venue and a DJ that is uncompromising (eg Jeff, Juan, Moodymann)
rather than a full venue and bad music.

 cheers

 m
