RE: (313) new Axis

2005-04-06 Thread Williams, Graham

I listened to both of them over the weekend, wasn't impressed at all, one of
them is only a one sided piece of vinyl, bit of a waste.

You're not missing much Alex.

Does anyone have the new Axis record.

It's not on Axis, but that other label he does, I can never work out the
name of it.

is it elektralabel, mission, 6277?

I dont know.

Nowhere in Manchester has this record yet.

here's what hardwax says about it:

Axis 6277 Mission 005
Sub Space: First Step EP
Obital sounds very similar to the latest Carl Craig release!! Not to be
missed!!

the description got me intrigued - anyone heard it?
thanks.

it seems jeff isn't very keen on keeping his product lines separate.
(see 1st purpose maker and axis for another example)

it's elektrabel isn't it? but the catalogue number is Mission***

ah i dunno either.

so the subspace thing (mission05) sounds a lot more promising to me
than the 2x12 (mission04), which just sounded like more dark mills to
me (some may like that but that's never really been my thing beyond
owning a couple of records of that type).

so, need to give mission04 a listen when i see it.

all of it needs pitching down tho :)

You can hear soundclips of the new Axis at http://www.juno.co.uk for
example.
In my opinion it's not his best stuff but still okay a typical Mills
record.

I really dont mean to sound like an ass, but I must declare This is NOT

Lets keep it strictly wax on this one. I thank you all ahead of time.

elektrabel-6277 mission one-axis

awesome.
sounds like the old axis 9a '95-ish sound, but
reinvented for the future. hard, funky, dance-focused
and mind-oriented, yet very sci-fi and innovative.

it sounds like it is all synths...great quality sounds
as well.
comes with a little pamphlet axis update that
discusses the gear used for the growth release.
just goes to show how far something can go with a
minimal setup and a focused mind.

I don't know when the full release of this one is gonna surface, but it is
a definite must have.

This came up earlier this week. 17 March is the Australian release date and
MDS here usually gets it around the same time as overseas.
