there is some stuff on the new electronic moods CD (oldish... maybe smile comm or liquid sky) that fit this description. There was an old Alex Kid tune that did it on fcomm back in about 98, think it was on the castlesmadeofsand EP . Really nice, but it started more deep-house than techno/electro. So this probably doesn't help to much either! check Nubian Mindz "Black Science EP" on Archive. i don't have the record in front of me, but iirc a couple of the tracks start with electro moods and then work in the edited breaks. --- Antonio Alves Felizardo <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > 'lo list, > > I'm doing this mixed compilation for some friends > and I'm looking for a > good techno/electro track that halfway through > changes to drum'n'bass. > I have one from the Jacob's Optical Stairway album > on R&S, but I'm > looking for others. check more stuff on R&S records - they had a good number of records that straddled the techno/d&b fence. Darren Price comes to mind (on NovaMute) also. The easiest way I've found to do it is by incorporating some ghettotech in the set. The flow would then be Techno>Electro>Ghettotech>Jungle/DnB. A good transition track is "Hoes Take Off Your Clothes" by DJ Assault. -Original Message- From: Antonio Alves Felizardo [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Wednesday, September 21, 2005 6:40 AM To: 313@hyperreal.org Subject: (313) track req 'lo list, I'm doing this mixed compilation for some friends and I'm looking for a good techno/electro track that halfway through changes to drum'n'bass. I think if its the right one... one of my favorite records ever on Metamorphic, Embryonic EP? Titonton''s first label? The changes in it are sick, all over the place but completely make sense.

More techno-tinged d'n'b: http://www.discogs.com/release/43160 The tracks are cold, sinister and minimal which some how is even more striking in a d'n'b form than in techno... K
Re: (313) track req - d'n'b techno hybrids
'lo list, I'm doing this mixed compilation for some friends and I'm looking for a good techno/electro track that halfway through changes to drum'n'bass. I have one from the Jacob's Optical Stairway album on R&S, but I'm looking for others. Any recs? There are a few Jacobs Optical Stairway releases worth checking out. JOS have quite a bit of detroit relavence as well. A few other JOS's other guises include 4Hero, Tek9, and the very detroit-esque Nu Era (check their amazing Beyond Gravity album if you can find it). Ok back to the JOS info you were after... * Jacob's Optical Stairway - s/t cd/2xlp (R&S) 1996 (including a track co-produced by Juan Atkins) * Jacob's Optical Stairway - solar feelings cdep/12" (R&S) 1996 (including two mixes by Claude Young) * Jacob's Optical Stairway - jacob's story cdep/12" (R&S) 1997 (including Juan Atkins+Dave Angel mix) Other tech-d'n'b-jazz tracks i might recommend... * Innerzone Orchestra - bug in a bassbin rmxs cd, 3x12", 10" (MoWax) (includes mixes by carl craig, claude young, 4hero [sound familiar], future/past, and peshay) - the best mix is claude's 31st Century Jazz Mix on the 10" all released in 1996 * Florence - the vinyard 12" (Eevolute) 1995 (with nice peter ford mix) * Reload - autoreload vol 2 cdep (Infonet) 1993 (with amazing mixes by Black Dog and Global Communications) * Lamb - cottonwool rmxs (Fontana) 1996 (with nice fila brazilia & guy called gerald mixes) * Sensorama - Zu Gast auf der Welcome Insel cd/2xlp (Ladomat) 1996 (claude mix is the d'n'b-ish track but highlights also include mixes by Born Under a Rhyming Planet and Move D) And last but hardly least... * A Guy Called Gerald: black secret technology (Juice Box) (one of the great d'n'b tech releases) * A Guy Called Gerald: essence (Studio K7!) (a few highlights like 'humanity' and 'fever' - good rmxs by black dog, ashley beedle, too) * A Guy Called Gerald: to all things what they need (Studio K7!) (new one. nice spacy ambient moods and less vocals) While on the topic of AGCG, anybody know if the Juice Box represses of the back catalog ever came out? gerald mentioned on his website last year that he was planning represses of them all but i have yet to see them. i've always wanted copies of hot lemonade, 28 gun bad boy, and all the other early Juice Box 12"s i was never able to find. Also any reviews on Gerald's new Sugoi Recordings label? supposedly it will be more on the detroit-techno-acid tip. The first release on the label 'Flo-Ride' was due out this month. Any details or reviwes out there? ok, class dismissed. back to work for me... -- -->-Lance 6099 Creekside Lane North Ridgeville, OH 44039 United States

Not sure if anyone has mentioned Recloose but he has a few tracks that fit this bill... notably a track "Landscaping" off the top of my head and a few others worth looking into. * Lamb - cottonwool rmxs (Fontana) 1996 (with nice fila brazilia & guy called gerald mixes) I just listened to cottonwool from their album 2 days ago and the original still makes my hair stand on end when the choppy rhythms really get going. No structure on the surface, yet somehow it all just syncopates in the abstract... It's an ADHD dream come true!

A Guy Called Gerald unleashe's his new Sugoi label and its a beauty! Its quite fitting this record is called 'Flo-Ride' as this is in the same style as all those classic Gerarld era 808 State release's. Its bass heavy acid house that sounds bang up to date. Ltd to a 150 copies. Essential! Cheers BT
