I think that Black really refers to pan-African culture, not skin
color per se... I think it's no different than saying, say, Polish
Paris Project (i.e. the music of Chopin). I don't find anything
offensive about it.

Black people you mean? That would be faintly patronizing in my view, if it

be intentionally offensive, but it's still referenced by skin colour. How

Maybe 'Black' as an aesthetic term?

 Dumb, dumb dumb.

If I was Aux 88 I'd be hesitant in associating with this project as it could
cast them in as dubious a light as the project itself - which would be a
shame as the group are justifiably well respected for their music.

It's nothing to do with the Aux 88-linked project, I think, but it's in the
 same orbit.

Perhaps there would be a good reason for Aux 88 being involved in such a
project if it had worthwhile aims.

But it would need to be well-thought through and I would suggest it ought to
be at the behest of Aux 88, or people like Aux 88 in Japan.

NAMM is the big music gear show. I imagine at least a few of you all

More to the point, I imagine Aux88 and/or Pierre may have some club
gigs set up to take advantage of being in LA.

Unfortunately, no ... Vidal said he thought DJ Pierre
was doing a gig with Doc Martin down in Tijuana or
San Diego, but hadn't heard of any Aux 88 gigs here.

There are several NAMM after-parties going on out here, though.

- Mike Huckaby is doing a free party tonight (with DJ Developer)
in Silver Lake at Rambutan Thai, 2835 W. Sunset Blvd.
  Los Angeles, CA 90026.

- Troy Pierce (and Droog) is playing at Republic tonight
(650 N. La Cienega Blvd. in WeHo). $15 RSVPs are available
by email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] $15 pre-sale tickets may be
  purchased at http://www.wanttickets.com/

- Exzact (Florida Electro) is playing at another party
the E.L.M. crew are putting on at Blue Star tonight
  (2200 East 15th St., Los Angeles CA 90021 - $10 10:00-4:00)

- Tomorrow night is the Droid/Richard Devine thing from
  10:00 - 6:00 at 129 E. 3rd St. Los Angeles, CA 90026.
Besides Devine, there's also aPENDICS.SHUFFLE (live),
Drumcell, Acid Circus (live), Derek Michael vs. Baseck (live)
and others. Full lineup on the flyer:

I'm not in the biz so I won't be at NAMM, but will probably
make it out to see Huckaby and possibly to the Droid show
tomorrow.
