Re: (313) Jeff Mills - One Man Spaceship
P.S. There's a good interview with Jeff about "One Man Spaceship" as well as growing up in Detroit, UR etc. here: http://de-vice-2.tripod.com/id100.html (Warning: There's an embedded hidden MP3 link in the page that you can't turn off, so make sure your speakers are off/low before you go to that page) - Greg

FYI: "One Man Spaceship" was posted to Usenet (in alt.binaries.boneless) back almost 2 1/2 months ago. - Greg

The samples from the Axis website sound great; one track in particular has a very hypnotic feel to it, the kind that could do major floor damage. Further (and I'm sure very enthusiastic) review to follow. It is a bit frustrating however that a lot of people won't hear this record. And given that Mr Mills isn't an artist I think that needs return on these CD sales given his large DJ fees, it's a peculiar dichotomy because in today's climate a shop selling this CD online will have their stock bought up by collectors who then sell it on. To me, this album was one of the highs of 2006. The sounds actually reminded me to space and space travel. From this album, Mills` love for old science fiction movies becomes very clear. The theme, plus the fact he really makes his machines sing, make this a top album.
