I've heard that sample on some Public Enemy (Takes a Nation of Millions?) album too, I think it's a quote from MalcomX or someone v. similar. i recall i heard this first time on jungle brothers i'll house you. and that's something like '89 or *so*. ..Too Black,Too Strong..Be Strong..Be Free.. Does anybody know the first track with this words? It's on a Public Enemy track, off It Takes A Nation Of Millions... but it's originally part of a Malcolm X or MLK speech (probably the former), if I remember correctly. Jonny.

RE: [313] Too Black,Too Strong
actually this sample was on the original of I'll house you. A Royal House track called can you party. So as far as its appearance in house music goes, that dates it slightly earlier than the Jungle brothers. (speaking of royal house, why doesn't Todd Terry make tracks like Yeah Buddy any more?) i recall i heard this first time on jungle brothers i'll house you. and that's something like '89 or *so*. ..Too Black,Too Strong..Be Strong..Be Free.. The phrase too black, too strong was taken from MESSAGE TO THE GRASS ROOTS delivered in Detroit in the mid sixties by Malcolm X. My aunt had the LP with this and BALLOT OR THE BULLET on it.used to mix it in with my house back in the day.
