A party I'm playing at on 31st October.

Should be a good'un

A big shout out to all the Party People,

This Halloween join Low Gravity and party all night long at Jack's House.
This event promises to showcase all the artists and trax which created
House, Techno, Garage and Acid that made our clubs and Warehouses up and
down the country come to life with pounding bass and beats!
Not only will you get to hear the most rare and classic tracks from the
originators but we are also very proud to have two of the Heavyweight
DJ's and Producers who helped to build the UK's House scene from the very
beginning playing for you.

Colin Dale: One of the pioneering DJ's of kiss fm during its pirate days
around south London, Colin was responsible for bringing the underground
to the masses. moving from one illegal venue to the next with the likes of
Norman jay, Paul trouble Anderson and Fabio, he learnt his trade with
the best of them.

A Guy Called Gerald: Since the 80's A Guy Called Gerald has proven to be
among the most innovative modern music figures. His influence is
international, and through his versatility he has spawned genres and
generations of music culture. From his early experimentation with techno
and acid house, Gerald created or has been involved with legendary tracks
such as "Voodoo Ray", "Pacific State", "Dream 17",808 State's "Newbuild"

Re: jack's house

2000-08-17 Thread Matthew L. Thompson
This subject came up on the 313 list a few months back, I saved the message
that Terrence Parker posted with the answer to this seemingly omnipotent
question. So with all credit due to TP, here is his answer:

"The ORIGINAL VERSION of the famous speech "In the beginning there was Jack,
and Jack had a groove . . . ." is by ITALO ECSTASY. The track is entitled
"MY
HOUSE," and was ORIGINALLY released on XYZ RECORDS late in the year 1986.

Yes, it was used as a "vocal drop" on top of many instrumental recordings
over the years, including Mr. Fingers' "CAN YOU FEEL IT." But don't get it
twisted ladies and gentlemen. The Mr. Fingers' version (which was originally
a BOOTLEG) is NOT WHERE THIS SPEECH ORIGINATED FROM!"

fingers 'can you feel' has a vocal version on trax. but it's not the original
use of 'in the beginning there was jack'. i have it, but can't remember the
artists name or label.
it has an accapella, a vocal with the fingers track and two other tracks.
historically it's an interesting record but if you want the track better to buy
the re-released trax version. if you want the accapella the easiest place is
probably on Kikoman vs. Daniel Thomson 'Open Ya Mind' (Deepfried) from last
year.
if anybody really wants to know the name and label of the orignal i'll post it
in two weeks when i get back from camping in northern cali.

i don't think it's a bootleg, then again i could be wrong. the label that
version came out on eludes me, but i do know the sleeve was yellowish-brown.

The track you're referring to is Mr Fingers - Can You feel it on Trax
records.
Although it is originally an instrumental track. Later in 1988, there was
also

a vocal version with Robert Owens and a very rare version with the Martin
Luther King - I have a dream speech on Jack Trax released as Fingers Inc.
The

version you are talking about is some kind of bootleg (I believe not even
released with prior knowledge of Larry Heard) with the famous "in the
beginning there was Jack" speech.

Or am I wrong here, guys?
