Re: redis, anyone?

Justin,

Did you find anyone with 4D-Redis expertise? Alternatives I am thinking to
find at least a plugin / component to talk to Redis? API based solution to
talk to Redis via HTTP/REST is also my last option...

V15 issue

2017-04-03 Thread Robert McKeever via 4D_Tech
I have a single user mac client (running Sierra) with a 4D V15.4 database. The
database WAS in 4D V13.4. There is a 4 hour time difference between his
computer and mine.

I sent him a new structure, and moved the older datafile into the V15
structure. It converted it fine.

He imports an extract from a hospital database that creates patients,
encounters and claims. Suddenly, it thinks the datafile is in read-only mode,
and can not create new records. The app is read-write for all listed users, as
well as the 4DD and 4Dindx files. The enclosing folder is read-write for the
user, who is an admin, but read-only for the others.

How do I get it to read-write?

Re: Form Buttons Not Showing on Windows...

2017-04-03 Thread Chip Scheide via 4D_Tech
the pictures for the buttons are not (were not) moved along with the
structure.

I do not know where you have them stored, resource folder, picture
library, other location,
but where ever it is, that folder likely needs to be moved along with
the structure.

BTW - not using v16 so take this with a grain of salt

RE: 4D Write Pro using expressions with XML merge file (or JSON)

2017-04-03 Thread Piotr Chabot Stadhouders via 4D_Tech
Hi,

I was thinking : Wouldn't it be nice if 4D implemented some commands where we
can easily do this kind of stuff in 4D Write Pro?
1 command to link a xml / json data file to a 4D write pro document, and 1
counterpart to detach data file
Extend ST INSERT EXPRESSION (maybe ST INSERT XPATH) where you can insert
directly a xml path or json dot notation string.

Gr,

Piotr

Re: 4D Write Pro using expressions with XML merge file (or JSON)

2017-04-03 Thread Koen Van Hooreweghe via 4D_Tech
Hi Piotr,

I haven't done that in 4D Write, but in a normal (template) text field which
contains html tags and is run trough PROCESS 4D TAGS finally being sent as html
e-mail body text.
In that particular case we fill a 4D object field with some info data. So the
user can add the info he likes in the template using OB Get(...) in a 4DTEXT
tag. The object has a plain structure, the properties are immediately
accessible. But if nested objects were used, dot notation would be nice. But I
guess the component of Bernard can be used for that purpose. Or wait until it
gets built in 4D.

Kind regards,
Koen

[ANN] hmCal 7.1 available for 4D v15 and v16

2017-04-03 Thread Christian Sakowski via 4D_Tech
hmCal is a plug-in developed by heubach media (www.hmplugins.com), Hamburg,
Germany for 4th Dimension.

With version 7.1 of hmCal we continually integrate new features and improve
stability and integrity in 4D.
This minor update is a free update for all hmCal 7.0-users.

This version of hmCal is certified for 4D v15 and 4D v16, only!

Version 7 of hmCal is a huge step. We moved our product to a 64 bit version on
Macintosh and rewrote the entire graphical engine to DirectX on Windows. We
implemented a lot of long wanted features, like breaks in the time line.

hmCal 7 contains tremendous new functions and improvements:

- New command hmCal_SET TIMEOUT LIST to set breaks in the time line
- New events: hmCal_OnTooltip, hmCal_OnScroll and hmCal_SortUser
- New command hmCal_GET USER LIST to get a list of all users
- New commands hmCal_SET COLOR NEW and hmCal_GET COLOR NEW to define the alpha
channel for colors
- New commands hmCal_Add Group and hmCal_DELETE GROUP to group related
appoinments together in a view
- It is now possible to sort the user rows in the user multi day view
- 64 Bit Version for Mac (4D and 4D Server)
- Complete rewritten drawing engine under Windows: Moving from GDI+ to Direct2D
and DirectWrite

More you can read in the release notes of the online documentation:

http://hm2.heubach-media.de/projektis/hmCal/7_0/documentation/hmCal_EN_INDEX.HTM

Currently there are 6 demo databases available for 4D v15. These databases
shows you, how to handle the new features and how easy it is, to integrate
these new features in your 4D application.

hmCal ist available as a 32 and 64 bit universal binary bundle for Macintosh
and Windows.
It was developed and tested with 4D v15 and v16.

hmCal is available for Macintosh 10.9 and above and Windows 7 SP1 and above as
Bundle for 4D v15 and 4D v16.

More information:

I guess SQL/import export would break since it adds an underscore to illegal

perhaps the same with XML export of structure.

if has been working for some time,
maybe it's not such a high priority,
but you'd also want to be prepared for dot-notation support whenever that is
going to be...

Re: Methods starting with a number

2017-04-03 Thread Herr Alexander Heintz via 4D_Tech
We have all been pampered by 4D insofar as nomenclature that was strictly
forbidden in most other languages was permitted.
It already breaks on table and field names when using SQL, many of the other
things are next.
I never thought it was an especially wise idea to allow spaces and
diacritical characters in programming language nomenclature…
So yes, I would at one point take the time to clear this up, and while you are
at it get rid of any spaces in method, table and field names as well.
My 2 ct.
