Nice compromise. I may try that.

New Forum

2021-06-04 Thread Walt Nelson via 4D_Tech
Randy,

I have signed up for the new forum to receive individual emails for all new
posts in the various areas I am interested in (mostly all the English ones).

I then have an Apple Mail Rule to move them into various folders.

Works just like this old list for me. No real difference.

I do like the ability in the new forum to post formatted code and screenshots.
So much better to get the point across that pure text like this forum.

Thanks,
Walt
P.S. I don’t access the forum in a browser at all (after the one time setup).
Everything is handled in Apple Mail.

Good point. The software does *some* searching for you in that it lists
message threads that it thinks are similar but it seems that the old Forum
had better search functionality. I don't use the search features much.

The big win for me on the new forum was attachments.

Well thanks to that forum this list is free of the white noise and smart ass
wanke**, which I never see/sow as activity.

Let’s keep this list as the area for real 4D-Pros and divert all the rubbish to
the forum for the self-proclaimed specialists.

With 30+ years in 4D I can’t stand Newbie-BS.

Re: Base64 Image

2021-06-04 Thread Koen Van Hooreweghe via 4D_Tech
Hi Jorg,

I was only trying to be helpful. I don't have any 4D shares (;-) , but as a
long time developer (+30 years) I dare to count myself in the experienced group
too.
There are currently 9036 users on the 4D forum, which is actively used (not
moderated or censored) by 4D staff members too. Your mileage might vary, but
chances are good you will get or find answers there.

Personally I liked this e-mail mailing list, but fact is there is little
activity recently. Unless I'm not getting all messages?

Maybe sometimes one just has to follow the crowd,...

Kind regards,
Koen

This is a piece of code I've been using:

TEXT TO BLOB($base64string;$pictBlob;UTF8 text without length)
If (BLOB size($pictBlob)>0)
BASE64 DECODE($pictBlob)
BLOB TO PICTURE($pictBlob;$picture;"JPEG")
End if

PS: I'd advise to switch to the official 4D Forum: discuss.4d.com, not many

LDAP Consistency

2021-06-04 Thread Tarawerkz via 4D_Tech
Hi,

I recently implemented a feature in a v15 application that allows the users to
log in to 4D Client via their windows credentials. A script using the LDAP
LOGIN command makes a call direct from the client app to the LDAP IP address on
port 389. It works well with remote clients as well as 4D client on the set
station as 4D server.

However, I am having an issue with log in via web browsers. On login via
browser connections, the username and password parameters are passed to the 4D
Server and used to authenticate against the same LDAP address and port. Using
the same login script as the client login, authentication fails even with the
correct credentials.

Does any one have an idea why this is so? Why is the LDAP script behaving
differently when called from the client and from the server ?

Regards
Ronnie
Tarawerkz
