Re: 4D Default Folder Structure

2021-06-23 Thread Kevin Abraham via 4D_Tech
Jorg,

I don’t think Jody even knows how to be snarky (my description for a RTFM
answer) and why not just get him to clarify which Manual. A simple “Do you know
which manual and section it is described in, or is it something else like a
tech note?”

You will either get a useful answer, my experience with Jody is you will, or
you will get nothing and be no worse off than you were, looking for something
where you don’t even know if it exists.

Thanks,
Kevin Abraham

Re: Need Help! - Customer upgraded from Win 7 to Win 10 Pro. 4D v13.6 Built Server Won't Run

2021-01-19 Thread Kevin Abraham via 4D_Tech
We run v13.5 on Win 10 on just not on the Server End. If you are running a 4D
Server on Win 10 as opposed to Win Server, I would check that there was Windows
where you had to open up ports in the Win Fire Wall and also allow for Code
Execution from a separate file.

Re: Multiple instances of 4D Client

2020-04-17 Thread Kevin Abraham via 4D_Tech
Don’t tell me Windows 10 for 4Dv16.2 has broken this but it is incredibly easy
and we have been doing this with up to 4 Servers since v6 all the way to v13,
so I would be very surprised if this ability was changed by Window or 4D.

Simply go find your 4D Installation, in my case 4D v13.3 in Program Files
(x86). Then make as many copies of that 4D folder as you need, in your case 1
and in my case 4. They will be named 4D v13.3 - Copy, Copy(2), etc. by windows
when you create them in Program Files. Then simply create a shortcut to each
4D.exe and put them on the desktop. If you have 4 installed copies of 4D you
will have 4 Shorcuts to 4 different 4D.exe files and can connect to up to 4
different Servers at the same time.

Now what you can’t do, is connect any more than one of them to a single Server
at the same time, i.e. you can not have 2 Clients connected to the same server
at the same time (at least not the way I described above, maybe someone knows
how, but not me).

Good Luck,
Kevin Abraham

Re: 4D v16.2 false record locks

2017-09-18 Thread Kevin Abraham via 4D_Tech
Jeffrey,

We have seen this in v13 (but I imagine it would work the same) any time a user
has a record locked, for example in an Input Layout, and the Client crashes
requiring a Ctl-Alt-Del. The lock on the record remains forever whether the
User is logged in or not and only a restart of the Server can unlock the record.

Good Luck,

Re: Web License issue

2017-09-05 Thread Kevin Abraham via 4D_Tech
Doug,

This happened to us once, Web Application Extension License is the wrong
license. They are named very similarly and 4D sent us the wrong license once.

The correct License is listed as "4D Web Application Expansion for 4D Client
v13”. If it does NOT say “for 4D Client” on the end, it is wrong license.
