Question on 'journal' file

2024-01-18 Thread Lloyd Sigler via 4D_Tech
I am using 4D v18.64 and I have a file with .journal extension that is several
years older than the .4DIndx and .Match files.

Was the journal file dropped along the way at some point? Safe to delete it?

Thanks,

Lloyd Sigler

Re: V18 Closing Method windows and Form windows when switching modes...

2020-09-17 Thread Lloyd SIgler via 4D_Tech
Thanks all…

Jeremy, that does the trick. Somehow when installing v18 on my MacBook it got
checked ‘on’. Thanks!

On the new 4D Forum:

I have checked it out. Personally, I like the way the this forum works. I guess
I’m turning into a Luddite. But I like the 'background' aspect of the way it
works, it just transparently goes to its own folder in my email and I can call
it up any time to search in it or ask a question, I don’t need to do anything
or log in anywhere, it's all just there waiting if I need it.

I go way back to version 1 of 4D, (so I guess I do qualify as a Luddite!) but
today I mostly write code to relax and to keep our own system (that dates back
as far) running with system updates and functional changes and tweaks. I
haven’t been very active on the forum for years, but I love seeing all the old
familiar names posting here. This is such a great group of people who are
always ready and willing to answer questions and help out.

Lloyd

V18 Closing Method windows and Form windows when switching modes...

2020-09-16 Thread Lloyd SIgler via 4D_Tech
When going from Design Mode to Test Application and back, v18 is closing any
open Method windows and Form windows that were open in Design Mode.

It’s driving me nuts. Is there a fix ,or am I missing something with this new
behavior?

TIA,

Lloyd

Re: Downloaded 4D app: structure file in read only mode

Do you have the data files open on another Machine?

I will get that message if I am trying to open while the data files are already
open on another machine.

Fixed: Re: v16 List Box Set Enterable not working?

2018-01-22 Thread Lloyd SIgler via 4D_Tech
Okay, it works as expected when you make area ‘Enterable’ in Property List. No
requirement to to put it in the “On Before Data Entry”.

Evidently, v14 allowed overriding that setting in code, which I personally
prefer since it eliminates the need to add code to make it unenterable.

Re: v16 List Box Set Enterable not working?

2018-01-22 Thread Lloyd Sigler via 4D_Tech
I will try that approach, but seems that the code 'should' work since the row
and column are specified. Makes cleaner code to deal with it all in one place,
in this case I have a boolean that gets ‘checked’ if we are paying an invoice,
and it then ‘unlocks’ the ‘amount’ in that row and puts cursor there to edit
the amount being paid on the open invoice.
