Re: 64-bit Client Server on Windows question

2017-10-18 Thread John Baughman via 4D_Tech
Thanks Tim.. right on. If I turn on the network layer I can log into the server
with the 64-bit client.

OK then… Now the 4D Web Area that I asked a question about in a different post
to the NUG, no longer uses the Adobe Reader plug-in. It opens in a separate
window in adobe reader. The Web Area displays “Navigation to the webpage was
cancelled”. Not a big deal at the moment, but interesting.

So, you have to use the New Network Layer if you want to use 64-bt on Windows.
Kind of foreboding given all the recent posts about turning off the New Network
Layer due to other issues which up to now I have not paid a whole lot of
attention to. It appears that many are shying away from the New Network Layer
for now. Am I mistaken?

RE: 64-bit Client Server on Windows question

2017-10-18 Thread Timothy Penner via 4D_Tech
Hi John,

The Red X is likely related to Pict images, see this blog post:
https://blog.4d.com/msc-now-helps-you-to-find-deprecated-images/

Not being able to login from 64 bit Client is likely related to the fact that
the 64 bit client requires that the New Network Layer be used. If you are
running 64 bit Server on Windows then you need enable the compatibility
setting. In contrast, when using the 64 bit Server on Mac the New Network Layer
is automatically used regardless of the compatibility setting.

The 64 bit client doesn't support quick time. You need to update your images to
a supported format. JPR has a great utility component that will find invalid
pictures and help in the conversion.
