There was a bug with spellchecker in v15 which might be related to your
problem:

Have you tried a newer version of 4D?

spelling check in 4D v15.6 4DView W7

2019-07-10 Thread ernest hilgers via 4D_Tech
Hi All,

4D v15.6 pc W7.
Created a database solution for a customer and on an input form is placed a 4D
View area.

Due to different criteria (spellchecking) it’s a better candidate than a
listbox. (historically they were entering data into a spreadsheet).
So I wanted to cater to that situation but using a relational database to
better gather and group information.

They need spelling check on each row in the first 2 columns.
The cell’s attributes are set to be: Forced text, Automatic word wrap and
Attributes: SpellCheck
This can easely be set.

however…
1) the spellchecker of 4D View v15.6 is ALWAYS starting to “check” spelling
starting at the second character of the word, never at the first.

e.g.: hier we hav no problem

-spelling checker kicks in and displays: ier
and a bunch of suggestions.

for the “ier” I press the igonore button (not what I wanted but lets continue)

it goes on to the next word : hav

- in the suggestions list there is the correct word: have
- selecting (clicking) the correct word “have” in the list makes it appear in
the area: “replace with”
- clicking the button “replace” some how creates havoc: now the word in the
Replace Area is: wehave
- in the area above Not in Directory, it states: wehave
and the suggestions list becomes weirder now
- if I close the dialog box “corrections”, now the sentence AFTER spellcheck
is: hier wehave no problem

I am doing something wrong ?

The customer is not impressed because the spelcheck is an important feature in
this solution.
We all know when a customer is not satisfied, what will happen with this 4d
solutions on their computer.

Can anyone tell me how to approach / fix this with 4D ?
