RE: [9fans] How can I compile c code written for plan9 in ANIS C compiler

2022-10-09 Thread _ resun
Well @Charles Forsyth plan9port has only for
unix-like systems I was willing to get them in widows.

Actually there are lots of things from plan9 that I want to use in windows. I
was thinking of some substitute for the plan9 libraries for windows. Plan9port
has only for unix-like system. Is there any for windows?

Extra: If there isn’t any substitute for windows, I am interested to
contribute to plan9port in near future (probably about a year). Can I do so?

Thank you.

If you look at plan9port (eg, https://9fans.github.io/plan9port/), you'll see
how that's done for a good chunk of the application code of Plan 9 (using host
C compilers).
It also includes versions of the Plan 9 libraries that will also compile on
other systems.
Indeed, if you install plan9port you should be able to use its mk, 9c and 9l
and mkfile structure to compile your Plan 9 code directly (since that's how the
Plan 9 libraries are compiled in plan9port).
The main restriction is that various Plan 9 C extensions aren't available, so
those need to be removed first.

This is a very late reply. But I figured out the problem. It was due to my
VirtualBox configuration. My network was attached to Host-only adapter but in
order to access network in plan9 from VirtualBox network should be attached to
Bridged Adapter.

Thank you.

Hi Saif, as cinap said this var is used by ndb/dns. Look I didn't
want to participate in this thread beacuse I don't have a Bell's
Plan9|legacy installation right now, but you are going to found the
same problems I hit then, the most important is the lack of ciphers.
I imported them from 9front while I was using 9legacy. also you need
to fix webfs: extend the URL length and add SNI.

You can grab it from http://adr.freeshell.org/plan9/patches/ and adapted
at your taste, but note that I'm not mantaining it.

Now you want to ask yourself, is it worth it? Why don't use 9front instead?

Good luck,
adr.

Try with

you need

ip/ipconfig
ndb/cs
ndb/dns
webfs
abaco

the ipconfig call may need a -R if you want to use dhcp rather than having a
static ip from ndb.

nsd/cs will set the sysname based on matching the mac address in lib/ndb/local,
and this will be put in your prompt of any shell. this is nice but not required
for abaco

li looks like you are not running ndb/dns.

you need to start this before webfs, and then start abaco after that.

sadly the web has moved on a but since abaco was written - it used to render
most pages quite well. These days its lack of javascript is more and more of a
problem.
