Is "(A)" just the single bass note on an accordion, or what?

Is "EmG" a pair of alternatives?

[abcusers] BarFly 1d28 available

2001-03-11 Thread Phil Taylor

There's a new version of BarFly up for grabs.

New features include:

* Now supports the use of the tilde ~ to represent a non-breaking space in w:
fields.

* Optionally makes use of Navigation Services.

* There's a new pan option available in multi-voice abc which lets you spread
your orchestra out in stereo, and you can now control the placing of brackets
at the left of the staff.

* A new extended K: field syntax lets you separately transpose displayed and
played music (to deal with transposing instruments and fix those pesky
abc2ps files where the bass notes are entered two octaves too high).

* There's a new Analyse Melody command which can tell you what key and mode
a tune is in and identify scales. There is a fairly extensive tutorial
in the file "Modes.txt" which describes this.

* A nicer looking file icon (rebuild your desktop after unpacking the archive
to see this).

Users of the old 680x0 machines should hang on to their existing version,
since this version is a bit flaky on those old machines (it's getting
increasingly difficult to support them). Also, as a result of a disk
accident I lost a mailbox containing bug reports. Consequently, not all
bugs reported to me have been fixed. If you find a problem which you have
reported persisting, please don't feel inhibited about reporting it again.

Get it from:

[abcusers] parts, voices and ostinatos

2001-03-11 Thread Jack Campin

For something like this it would be handy if we could write the
ostinato part just once (there is only one bar of it, not 18).
Any ideas for a sane extension of the P: syntax that would do it?

(Eliminate the "program" bits if you don't have BarFly).
