Hi friends, before few years I read an article on Access India about canes, which, I think was posted by Mr. Dipendra Manocha. I think that there was some kind of indication by beeping or anything sort of that in the cane. It was developing by the co-efforts of NAB Delhi and IIT Delhi. Please can anyone tell me about that? Hi Group, As you may be aware, I work for IBM in Mumbai as a Solutions Specialist. I am also involved in some diversity initiatives one of which is to start an internship programme for disabled candidates. The internship will be only for 2 months and candidates will be given a short term project in those 2 months. The idea is simple - to give a student or a fresh graduate a work experience in a mainstream corporate environment which will give the candidate confidence and also remove doubts in the minds of future employers about the employability of the candidate. Towards this end I have got approvals for 2 interns this year and I hope that the programme is so successful that we can convince our management to have several more candidates for internship next year. If you know anybody who may be interested pl do give them my contact nos. and ask them to call me during office hours on weekdays. My contact nos. are given at the end of the mail. The candidate needs to have the following basic criteria : challenged with any disability - visual, hearing, ortho, etc. in the second or final year of graduation or just graduated in the last couple of years (but not employed) Good with computers (and screen readers if visually impaired) Good English communication skills both oral and written Able to travel between office and home Basic awareness of industry We will be paying selected candidates a stipend as well as a travelling allowance. The candidates will undergo a telephonic interview post which shortlisted candidates will be called for a final interview to our premises.
