Re: [AI] Governments, parties neglecting disabled citizens: CPI-M
There is no certainty of that, if a person with disability starts persuing his / her own agenda after becoming a union minister, who could stop him? Nomination is almost always a bad idea. Probably the time is coming when geographic representation needs to be supplimented with representation based on specialization. Our current political system is based on geography, where there are MLAs and MPs from an area. But there is a lot common between the persons with disabilities than persons residing in one area. The geographic representation was a compromise as there were few ways to communicate with one another if you lived apart, but with mass media and internet, I guess it is not that hard now. BTW, Mr. Jaypal Reddy is a person with disability, but he prefers to stay away from issue of persons with disability, probably he does not want to be labelled with a nich population. Successive governments and mainstream political parties have utterly failed disabled citizens by ignoring and neglecting their issues, said CPI-M politburo member Brinda Karat, while releasing the party's pamphlets for women, Dalits, tribals and disabled here. The Congress-led government's slogan of 'inclusive growth' rings hollow when seen in relation to the rights, needs and requirements of the disabled or differently abled population in India, even though they constitute at least six percent of the population, she said. According to the CPI-M, the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government's record on providing job opportunities for the disabled had been dismal. It noted Finance Minister P. Chidambaram had announced a scheme of providing 100,000 jobs per annum to persons with disabilities, with a proposed outlay of Rs.18 billion (Rs.1800 crore) during the 11th Plan in the 2006-07 Budget. However, Chidambaram himself admitted some time later that not a single recruitment has been made six months after the scheme was announced, the CPI-M said. The CPI-M called for a special employment guarantee scheme to be designed for disabled people in all parts of the country that provides them suitable employment, ensuring at least minimum wages throughout the year. The Persons With Disabilities (PWD) Act provides three percent reservation in jobs in all government and public sector units for the disabled. The share of the disabled against the total strength in actual terms is barely 0.44 percent as against their estimated population of 5-6 percent, it said. [AI] my thoughts on yahoo mail mobile version.
Listers, All know that I was looking for yahoo mail mobile version. today I searched and got it. If you type: m.yahoo.com/mail/ then the mobile version of yahoo loads into the browser. Sign in, and you will see inbox. I saw 15 messages per page. But there you will not find check boxes for selecting the messages and the buttons like delete etc. If you wish to select messages and delete, then there is a link manage messages, which lets you select the messages and delete, spam move. For going to spam, you need to go to the link All folders, which gives you options like Trash, Spam etc. Select, and there you go. Still gmail mobile version is better than that of yahoo because from one place only you can do whatever you want at least delete, spam etc. Regards, Amar Jain. Also check the start-up folder to make sure that there isn't any icon related to Windows messenger. Basically any icon lying on that folder can trigger the associated program to start automatically when your system starts. Also stop the service associated with the program and perhaps it is configured to run automatically. Hmm, this is interesting -- working as local promoters for political parties. This is something that blind people can easily do, and those who are looking for employment can also make a few bucks out of it. We should also perhaps coax political parties into inducting blind/disabled members who would in return campaign for them in the disabled community. This would help the disabled members build up a base and eventually contest elections. - Original Message - From: Vedprakash Sharma vedprakash.sha...@gmail.com To: accessindia@accessindia.org.in Sent: Friday, April 03, 2009 5:04 PM Subject: Re: [AI] gratitude for your support and a small information required You can create your own blog on the blogspot or the wordpress. you can get translation job by creating an account on http://www.proz.com Connect yourself with the local Radio channels, AM/FM and you can find many contracts like for writing stories or other features for different programmes. [AI] problems in rilway Rilway reservation
Hello list members, happy festival: This time, I have one issue to be talked off. first regarding: How to know the status of trains on internet? It should include, reservation, number of seats available in which train? Yesterday I went to rilway reservation counter for the first time in life. There I found that all the fecilities that are lokated there are not at all accessible for us. There is a PC's where you have a the train schedule along with the reservation in different trains and so on. There i had to take a sighted help to know the status of train and vacancies, and filled the form and got my techets, What if there are no optimists to help us? As we have been discussing this issue for long time on the list, We should fight to retrieve our rights, online reservation with consession. we should have a multi identity card as many of us are emphasizing. In order to solve this and many such issues, why don't we reach a consenses and submit a proposal to the governament? If they don't listen? They'll, if we increase the pressure. We should prevent others from miss using our fecilities. regards, Govind. Skype: govindhowsweet To unsubscribe send a message to accessindia-requ...@accessindia.org.in with the subject unsubscribe. Re: [AI] problems in rilway Rilway reservation
Hello govind, you are right I too experienced the same in my past. There a fecility that is dail 139 and can avail all the PNR status, accomidation and schedule of trains. it is available in all most all languages. You raged a issue of multy identity cards, we should reach a consensus. At least we can represent from our state as a initiative. When and where should we meet to discuss these maters? We should not wait for somebody will come and do something for us. We are the capables and respondents. I pray spare some of your time enorgy to fight against many problems which I have raged in my previous mails. Nothing will be possible, unless we make an effort. Re: [AI] ETickets in IndianRailways for VI
hullo, keeping in mind the developments that have taken place in the disability sector since pwd act, we must hope to work out something in this area. but for this our learned colleagues must raise their voice in the concise and proper manner as we are doing rightly on this platform. i do request the other members of this list who have not expressed their valluable thoughts to spare their few valluable moments and come up with their ideas. as railways are already offering senior citizen concession by accepting their age proof in the same way they should accept concession certificate and blind certificate which should help us in booking tickets. hope our N.G.Os respond to this. thanks, with regards, mukesh jain. On 4/1/09, Rohith P p.roh...@gmail.com wrote: dear listers Is it possible to book train ticket online availing concession. I tried booking ETicket using the IRCTC.CO.IN but was not given the option to specify concession. If there is no such provision, don't you think it's high time that we collectively demanded extending ETicket facility to the VI and other PWDS. This will be a great help as it reduces a lot of unnecessary travel and inconvenience. This will also help many of us as some of the booking clarks are not aware of the rules and regulations GOVERNING concession to PWDs. I have faced some problems in booking tickets with concession from several railway stations in hyderabad, to be specific Lingampally, Chandaanagar and secanderabad stations. After my repeated attempts, the booking counter at lingampally, which was the closest to my location, became fairly responsible and helpful. Now that I've shifted my residence I am facing it with my new local station. looking forward to have your experiences and thoughts regards rohith To unsubscribe send a message to accessindia-requ...@accessindia.org.in with the subject unsubscribe.
