[AI] Purchasing a domain?

2009-06-27 Thread Amar Jain
Hello Accessindians,

This time I have query related to domain registration.
I know, that web hosting services give you the option to purchase a domain.
But, my question is, that is there any one company which manages all the
domains?
And, what should we keep in mind while purchasing a domain? Technically what
should we look while purchasing a domain.
If there is not any one company which looks all about the domain, then when
choosing a company for domain registration, what should we look at?
Can someone provide me any link say to wikipedia or anything which can give me
complete detailed knowledge about domain registration and everything related to
domain?

Your help is expected soon.

Regards,

Amar Jain.

[AI] here's something for all of you twitters and followers!

2009-06-27 Thread soloman s
hello access indians! greetings to you all! thought this info on
twitter would be of use to those of you who twitt and your followers.

McTwit is a powerful, accessible client on Windows for the popular
networking site
twitter.com
.  As reported widely, Twitter has been key to
the sharing of breaking news by citizens, themselves (e.g., communication
by Iranians about human rights).  McTwit offers nearly comprehensive
access to Twitter capabilities, which are provided, not through a generic
web browser interface, but through a dedicated Windows dialog that is
completely accessible with screen reader programs used by blind people
today.  We can thereby participate fully in a popular communications
medium, and benefit equally from a leading networking technology!

Since the last major announcement about McTwit, it has gained many
improvements from collaborative efforts.  As the author, I am glad to work
with anyone interested in developing an extension that implements
additional features.  Two leading script developers for the most popular
screen readers have developed extensions that are now distributed with
McTwit, as well as available separately.  Jeff Bishop has developed
scripts for Window-Eyes users, available at
https://www.gwmicro.com/Script_Central/Scripts/Script_Details/?scriptid=1244

Brian Hartgen has developed scripts for JAWS users, available at
http://hartgen.org

Recently, the blind community has also produced several audio
presentations about new media, Twitter, and McTwit.  A piece by Erin Edgar
introduces Twitter from a blindness perspective at
http://BlindCoolTech.com

He also appeared on ACB Radio at
http://www2.acbradio.org/mainmenu/shows.php

Michael Lauf podcasted on accessible Twitter tools at
http://serotalk.com/podcasts/TechChat016.mp3

Jonathan Mosen organized a panel on Twitter tools from a JAWS perspective
at
http://www.freedomscientific.com/FSCast/episodes/fscast030-may2009.asp

Rich Cavallaro did an Accessible World training on Twitter at
http://accessibleworld.org/category/site-categories/tek-talk-archives

Mika Pyyhkala made a presentation on new media to blind computer users at
http://www.vibug.org/audio/vbg0609-c.mp3

Feature enhancements in McTwit 2.0 include the following.  Managed tweets
that you bookmark as favorites.  Review a chain of reply tweets.
Temporarily save and then restore a list of items.  Determine whether
someone is following another person on Twitter.  Forward a tweet in an
email message.  Select priority tweets based on criteria you specify.
Exclude junk tweets based on other criteria.  Update your Twitter profile.

Users report that McTwit is working with JAWS, System Access, and
Window-Eyes on both 32 and 64 bit versions of Windows -- including XP,
Vista and Windows 7.  Reports also confirm that McTwit runs on a portable
media device.  McTwit and its script extensions may be conveniently
updated from the software, itself.

The free, friendly, and portable nature of McTwit can play a useful role
at the upcoming conventions of the American Council of the Blind and
National Federation of the Blind.  Let me suggest the "hash tags" #ACBCon
and #NFBCon to help connect conversations about these events!

Re: [AI] need information

2009-06-27 Thread harish

Hi Madhu

I personally think, we should simply boycott use of these airlines and also
give negative publicity to them. Meaning, whenever you want to talk about
inaccessability to any media or any forra then you can elaborately cite them
as an example.

Anyways, you can get in touch with Shailesh Dias on 022 67723701 and have
your problem resolved. I would suggest also to carry this number with you
whenever you fly KF, you never know when you may get such surprises.

Re: [AI] Importing/Exporting of Address-Book

2009-06-27 Thread Amiyo Biswas

Hello,

Here is the tip on exporting windows address book in csv format from
www.jfwlite.com
Csv format or comma separated value is accessible from ms outlook and other
programmes. Though it is an old site, I find it still useful.

Best regards,
Amiyo Biswas.

Cell: +91-9433464329

To export Outlook Express address book to a comma separated value (csv)
file.
Go to the file menu with alt f.
Press E for export.
Hit enter on address book.
An export tool dialog will begin, you will have a listview with text file
(comma separated value) in the list. Press space bar to select it.
Tab to export button and hit enter.
It will want to know what you want to save the exported file as, type in a
path and file name with an extension of csv, for example
c:\windows\desktop\address.csv.
Tab and hit enter on next button.
You will be in an csv export dialog where it wants to know what fields you
want.
They will all already be selected, so just tab to the finish button and hit
enter.
It will tell you it has been exported, hit enter on okay.
Hit enter on the close button.

Dear members,

Most of you know that there are sites which allow you to send sms
free of charge. One of them is way2sms. A blind person can not get
himself registered himself on his own as there is something to be
copied. Something like when we have to open an E-mail account. So I
got myself registered with the help of a sighted person.

But now I have problems. I go to the site and get logged in. But
then everything seems to be in accessible. Our JAWS does not read
the options. So what to do? Does anyone use this site? How can we
access it and send sms free?If this site is not accessible, can
anyone tell me which site is fully accessible?

Thanks in anticipation.

Subject: [AI] Query about way2sms

Dear members,

Most of you know that there are sites which allow you to send sms free of
charge. One of them is way2sms. A blind person can not get himself
registered himself on his own as there is something to be copied.
Something like when we have to open an E-mail account. So I got myself
registered with the help of a sighted person.

But now I have problems. I go to the site and get logged in. But then
everything seems to be in accessible. Our JAWS does not read the
options. So what to do? Does anyone use this site? How can we access it
and send sms free?If this site is not accessible, can anyone tell me
which site is fully accessible?

Thanks in anticipation.
