Re: [AI] sending software through blue tooth -mobile?

2010-06-17 Thread RAJINDER SEHGAL
Yes u can send application by using bluetooth.
Symply rename the file and remove .sis like the file name is mp3 player.sis
renamed by mp3player
if anyboddy using s60v3 or s60v5 mobile then pack file in a zip archive.without
renaming the file then send.
S60v1 or s60v2 can support renamed file without extention like .sis.
Hope it helps.

For more info please feel free to contact me.

Re: [AI] Regarding team viewer

2010-06-17 Thread Pranav Lal
Hi,

Team viewer and similar applications send graphics of the computer screen of
the remote computer so no screen reader works with these applications.
However, there are solutions such as remote desktop which is available in
Windows XP. Jaws has tandem and Serotek have a remote incident manager that
you can use.

What is your specific situation? We can provide better advice when we know
the problem you are trying to solve.

[AI] 5 points for discussion now third , fourth and fifth

2010-06-17 Thread navneet
Dear access Indian friends ,

I want to put some issues in
front of access India since my English is not very good so I want to request to
correct the language to very intelligent access Indians which also have
knowledge of legal matters such as Rajesh Aasdhani, Kanchan Pamnani, S.C.
Vashishtha, Deependra Manucha, Harish Kaution and many others. I am writing
below some points namely Case No. 1 , Case No. 2 and so on and I want to put
these points on PWD ACT blog. please do correction in any grametical or legal
mistake and help me to say my problems more clearly .

Please remember that these points namely case no 3 and 4 all these points
are related to my experience of my life till today

I have put 2 cases 2 days ago and To day I am putting 3 more cases before
accessindia for correction in language and grammer

Case No. 3:- Just like as Case No. 1 and Case No. 2 it is also a policy matter
and every blind teacher faces this problems in his duty that blind teacher
could not do correction of note books and evaluation /marking of answer sheets
of unit test papers / Quaterly / six monthly / semesters exams at the college
level a blind lecturer may not be encounter with this problem because there is
not direct responsibility of lecturers that he will have to evaluate the answer
sheet and in addition of this there is a provision of some allowance for blind
lecturers by UGC and It is probably Rs. 2 per annum . Hence a blind
lecturers can appoint a scribe to do his work of copies evaluation at his own
cost But there is no provision or such type of allowance for blind school
teacher and a blind school teacher is only depend on kindness of Head master or
Principal and If they are soft natured person then they do some kindness
otherwise some insulting condition may arise in front of blind teacher .

Hence I think a
blind school teacher must be given any alternative work in place of copy
correction such as some oral work as to take periods of other teachers and
there must be any clear rule or instructions for school administration that who
check the copies of subject of blind teacher.

Case No. 4:- The fourth point is also related with the matter of scribe who has
being provided to blind candidates at the time of appearing in recruitment
exams .

Here , I want to give my example , my subject
on post graduate level is mathematics and I need of such a scribe who should be
acquainted with the symbols and signs of higher mathematics . But according to
the High Court of Maharashtra that blind candidate should be provided a scribe
having qualification of one grade below and scribe should not belong the same
discipline.

Here, I want to
ask one question if a scribe belongs to the disciple of biology or of arts
then he can acquainted with symbol of mathematics? And this problem has givenme
many times the result of exam in face of failure . so my request is that scribe
should belongs to same discipline .

Case No. 5:- Many people assume that a blind candidate could not teach
Mathematics . But it is not true So, I want such a rule which identifies
mathematics as a subject for which a blind teacher can be appointed.

I request to my friends to comment on these matters of policies

Re: [AI] List of Hindi Braille magazines

2010-06-17 Thread harish

Dear Akilesh

I appreciate your concern however, pleasetake into consideration the
following.

1 We are a very large group presently
2 We have members who are having affiliation to many NGO's
3 By and large with every NGO's there are some disgrunttled members.
4 We don't want AI to be a launching pad to air their differences.

We can't be selective and we have to keep an objective and consistent policy
across the board.

This is the reason we don't wish to discuss 3rd party organisations here.
Besides, it is also not ethically appropriate to do so.

You can certainly post factual information or published documents pertainly
to the case and leave it to fellow members to draw conclusion.

It is certainly not acceptable to run a discussion based on hear say.

I hope this clarrifies your doubts.

Dear Harish sir,
I personally think that this discussion has to be permitted over the

least respected members essentially should know that what is going in
the institute. An institute which has to be most responsible for our
visually challenged community.
However, the name of any person should not be pronounced.
Just expressing my personal views.

Re: [AI] making html document

2010-06-17 Thread Kartik Sawhney
Hello,

HTML is a language that is used to create web documents. Like all
other languages, HTML too has its own syntax rules. In order to use
HTML effectively, you will have to write HTML codes. For instance, all
HTML documents generally begin with tag. Similarly, the content
body begins with tag. Further, there are various formatting
tags like for italics etc. Therefore, for your document to be
completely correct, you will have to incorporate these tags into your
HTML source code. Further, in order to create hyperlinks, you will
have to use the tag available in HTML. This tag further has an
attribute href which is hypertext reference, wherein you can provide
the file name/URL of the link within angular brackets (<>).

Hope this helps,
-Kartik

Hello,
Please read the section 30 clause (F) of the PWD act, it will erase
any doubt that you have.
I'm not recalling the correct no. of the section, but if it is not 30,
it would be 31.
Thanks,
Akhilesh.

Dear Harish sir,
I personally think that this discussion has to be permitted over the
list. I fully agree with you that RTI has to be filed, its ok, but at
least respected members essentially should know that what is going in
the institute. An institute which has to be most responsible for our
visually challenged community.
However, the name of any person should not be pronounced.
Just expressing my personal views.
Apologies in advance if I've anything said wrong.

Re: [AI] sending software through blue tooth -mobile?

2010-06-17 Thread sachit sahrawat
Dear Bijal!

You cannot send " sis and jar'"files through the bluetooth
connectivity of a mobile phone. If you are sending these "sis and
jar" files through the bluetooth system of a PjC, it will support but
not from a mobile. You might be knowing that "sis and jar" are the
file formats which are compatible with mobile phones. Even if you
change the extention of these files, it wouldn't support.

[AI] Unplugged: Goodbye cables, hello energy beams

2010-06-17 Thread Sanjay

Your gadgets are finally about to become truly wireless - as long
as you don't mind lasers criss-crossing your living room

by David Robson

LET'S face it: power cables are unsightly dust-traps. PCs, TVs and
music players are becoming slicker every year, but the nest of vipers
in the corner of every room remains an ugly impediment to true
minimalism.

Then there is the inconvenience of charging phones, MP3 players and
PDAs. A minor hassle, admittedly, but it is easy to forget to top up
the batteries and before you know it you have left the house with a
dead gadget. Wouldn't life be simpler if power was invisibly beamed to
your devices whenever you walked into a building with an electricity
supply? Wireless communication is ubiquitous, after all, so why can't
we permanently unshackle our electronics from power cables too?

Poor transmission efficiencies and safety concerns have plagued
attempts at wireless power transfer, but a handful of start-ups - and
some big names, like Sony and Intel - are having another go at making
it work. The last few years have seen promising demonstrations of
cellphones, laptops and TVs being powered wirelessly. Are we on our
way to waving goodbye to wires once and for all?

The idea of wireless power transfer is almost as old as electricity
generation itself. At the beginning of the 20th century, Nikola Tesla
proposed using huge coils to transmit electricity through the
troposphere to power homes. He even started building Wardenclyffe
Tower on Long Island, New York, an enormous telecommunications tower
that would also test his idea for wireless power transmission. The
story goes that his backers pulled the funding when they realised
there would be no feasible way to ensure people paid for the
electricity they were using, and the wired power grid sprang up
instead.

Wireless transmission emerged again in the 1960s, with a demonstration
of a miniature helicopter powered using microwaves beamed from the
ground. Some have even suggested that one day we might power
spaceships by beaming power to them with lasers (New Scientist, 17
February 1996, p 28). As well as this, much theoretical work has gone
into exploring the possibility of beaming power down to Earth from
satellites that harvest solar energy (New Scientist, 24 November
2007, p 42).

Long-distance ground-to-ground wireless power transmission would
require expensive infrastructure, however, and with concerns over the
safety of transmitting it via high-power microwaves, the idea has been
met with trepidation.

While we won't be seeing a wireless power grid any time soon, the idea
of beaming power on a smaller scale is rapidly gaining momentum. That
is largely because, with wireless communication, like Wi-Fi and
Bluetooth, and ever-shrinking circuits, power cables are now the only
limit to becoming truly portable. "The move was inevitable once
wireless communication became popular," says David Graham, a
co-founder of Powerbeam in San Jose, California.

With this new impetus, engineers and start-up companies have jumped at
the challenge, and while beamed power is still in its infancy, three
viable options seem to be emerging. The use of radio waves to transmit
electricity is perhaps the most obvious solution, since you can in
principle use the same kinds of transmitters and receivers used in
Wi-Fi communication. Powercast, based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania,
has recently used this technology to transmit microwatts and
milliwatts of power over at least 15 metres to industrial sensors.
They believe a similar approach could one day be used to recharge
small devices like remote controls, alarm clocks and even cellphones.

A second possibility, for more power-hungry devices, is to fire a
finely focused infrared laser beam at a photovoltaic cell, which
converts the beam back to electrical energy. It's an approach
PowerBeam has adopted, but so far its efficiency is only between 15
and 30 per cent. While that could serve more power-hungry appliances,
it would in practice be too wasteful.

The technology has been used to power wireless lamps, speakers and
electronic photo frames that require less than 10 watts to function.
Over time, as both the lasers and photovoltaic cells improve, the
company hopes efficiencies of up to 50 per cent will be possible.
"There's no reason we couldn't power a laptop eventually," says
Graham. Unlike some other possible techniques, a sharply focused beam
loses minimal energy over large distances, preserving its efficiency:
"A hundred metres is no big deal."

Inconvenient beams
Others are sceptical that this technique would be practical for truly
portable devices, which are constantly moving around and between
rooms. "An infrared beam would not be convenient to charge a mobile
phone - it's too directional," says Menno Treffers, chairman of
the Wireless Power Consortium in the Netherlands. Powerbeam's solution
is to fit a small fluorescent bulb to the receiving device so that a
camera on the
