If you are recieving the file to ur PC than you should be able to send
through ur pc. right click on the file which u want to send and hit
enter on the option "send to" submenu then find blue tooth submenue
in it it will show the device with which the connection is
established, select it and press enter. If it is not so than through
ur bluetooth software establish the connection with ur device and do
it. Sir it will work.

Device Lets You See With Your Ears
The technology could be used to augment infrared and sonar to see at
night or even underwater.

impaired better navigate their surroundings.

A new device that links spy glasses, a webcam and a smart phone could
make it easier for blind people to "see" shapes by converting visual
signals to auditory ones and sending them to another part of the
brain.

Its developers also hope that the same device could be used to give a
new twist to infrared vision for seeing at night or take sonar to a
different level for navigating underwater.

Michael Proulx, a neuroscientist at Queen Mary's College in London,
will be demonstrating the device, know as "vOICe," at the American
Psychological Association meeting this week in Washington.

vOICe works by mapping visual images to sound and then providing
blindfolded users with a sense of what an object is and where it is
located.

"The most user- friendly way is to have a pair of spy glasses or
sunglasses with a tiny webcam in the bridge of the nose to provide
visual input," Proulx told Discovery News. "Then I use a small pocket
PC, which runs the software which takes input and provides auditory
input through headphones."

Differences in sound, including pitch and loudness provide clues to
the map. For example, for vertical location, "up" is represented by
high frequencies and "down" by low frequencies. Timed-stereo panning,
which is much like panning with a video camera, keeps an object within
a picture while giving a panoramic view. Horizontal location is
indicated by the time it takes for a left-to-right scan of each image.
Bright white is heard at maximum volume and dark is silent.

"The program takes visual input from the camera, then scans the image
from left to right," Proulx said. "Then you hear this soundscape where
the changes in frequency and volume correspond to pixels in the
image."

The basic software and hardware to convert visual signals to audio
ones has been around for more than 15 years, but advances in computer
technology and communications now make it easier for people to
actually use a more portable version in their daily lives. That's
according Dutch software engineer Peter Meijer, original developer of
the vOICe.

One of the biggest challenges is that it takes people three months of
training to use it. He also says that he's had trouble getting a big
enough demand to make it commercially viable, so he gives away the
device software for free and developed an Android mobile application.

Meijer is also hopeful that new kinds of "augmented reality" glasses
may be adapted to use his imaging and sound set-up. While these bulky
goggles may be find for gamers, many blind people want to look a bit
more normal, so more work is also needed in that area.

"The main thing is to work out how to make the brain and the
technology meet in the middle," Meijer said. "The technology is
mature, but we don't know how the brain deals with complex sounds."

Meijer said neuroscientists like Proulx and others are learning that
parts of the brain may be more plastic than we originally thought, and
that areas where we process visual images (up to 30 percent of our
brain) may receive other sound and touch signals as well.

The two had a small NSF grant to develop a portable device that will
be demonstrated this week.

"You could use this to bring in ultraviolet or infrared as well,"
Meijer said. "If you want to see like a snake sees or if police are
looking for someone in a forest, they could use a device like this to
augment their vision with infrared information."

Dear rajesh, first of all, under which operating system are you using the
external bluetooth dongle? if it is recognised by your operating system,
then do the following: pull up the run by pressing the window key+R and
then "fsquirt" and press enter to launch bluetooth file transfer wizard. It
seems your bluetooth device is not require any third party driver after
seeing your problem. if this is not a case, if you reveal your bluetooth
device brand, we can figureout your problem exactly. note: if you are
experiencing one way communication, do the following in order to establish
communication from both. open bluetooth file transfer wizard by pressing
the fsquirt from the run dialog box. simply say next and select "receive a
file and say next. now continue rest of the process on your mobile or other
bluetooth device from where you want to receive the file.

sophisticated direction-finding software to a vest that directs the wearer
around obstacles. Images courtesy of USC Viterbi School of Engineering.

Most visually impaired people still rely on a very rudimentary technology -
a simple cane - to navigate the world. Meanwhile, engineering researchers at
the University of Southern California have developed software that "sees"
the world. The software is linked to a system that provides tactile messages
that alert users about objects in their paths, such as low-hanging branches.

The system uses a camera that is worn on the head and connected to a PC that
uses simultaneous localization and mapping software to build maps of the
environment and to identify a safe path around obstacles.
The route information is then conveyed to the user through a guide vest that
has four micromotors located on the shoulder and waist. They vibrate like a
cell phone.

Simultaneous localization and mapping software analyzes data from stereo
camera views (above) to create 3-D renderings of the scene
(below) and to map a path through it.

If a low-hanging branch, for example, is to the left of a visually impaired
person, a micromotor will vibrate on the left shoulder.
Scientists say that this technology, unlike a cane, will enable the user to
avoid falls and other serious injuries when approaching larger objects.

The researchers tested the system on blind subjects at the Braille Institute
and received positive feedback. They are now working on ways to improve the
prototype. Because the head-mounted camera is bulky, they are working on a
microcamera system that could be attached to glasses. The goal is to have
the system in place by the end of the year.

Less bulky than the current head-mounted camera, the next-generation system
the team is working on, pictured here, will use a microcamera that could be
attached to glasses.

Funding for the research - which will be used to help veterans who have been
blinded during their military service - was provided by the National Science
Foundation, the US Army and the W.M. Keck Foundation.

Re: [AI] Bluetooth file transfer wizard

2011-08-03 Thread BHAWANI SHANKAR VERMA
rajesh ji! you can find it in communication in start programs accessories.
it only appears if you are using generic Bluetooth device. if not, it won't
appear and you have to use 3rd party programme to transfer your files or
other Bluetooth utilities, which came with your Bluetooth installation CD.
most of them are inaccessible with screen readers. also take note that some
Bluetooth dongle only support one way communication. it is due to
manufacturing defect. if your bt device only supporting one way
communication, please check it with your hardware supplier.

thanks.

   Dear Friends,

Recently a blind person from Tamilnadu had subscribed to this group. As
his English is poor, he requested me to give his details to the group on
his behalf.

His name is Perumal. He is 34 years old. He works in an orchestra group in
which he plays on the flute. He is very much interested in music,
especially in instrumental music. He doesn't have any government job, so,
as he says, he can not afford to purchase a computer. He contacts the
group through his Nokia E63 mobile phone.

He has worked in a Tamil movie entitled Autograph. In this film, he is
shown playing on the flute during a song.

I installed the netking utility from this link, installed it and used it. I
deleted some sms messages, selected memory card for message storage. Still
the phone memory lost 0.2 mb of disk space.

How can I remove the junk file using netking? The scan shows no problem
except that it does not have an antivirus installed. I downloaded the free
netking antivirus from the options. But it is not compatible.

restore through the *#7370# command. This virtually formats the phone
memory

and nothing is left, including the Talks serial number.

Interestingly, however, the issue gott resolved when I updated my firmware
to the latest update. But that is not advisable as many features, such as
the web, email and help contents, become inaccessible with Talks and are
likely to be fixed only with the Talks' next release.

Subject: [AI] About Phone Memory.

Hello,

When I purchased my C5 mobile from Saksham, the phone memory had 42 mb
free memory. But it is coming down bit by bit everyday. Now it has just
21.9 mb free memory. What's using up my phone memory? I have only 211
contacts. I don't find any option for saving the contacts on the memory
card.

What can I do to save phone memory? Do I have to bother about it at all?
Please help.

With best regards,
Amiyo Biswas.

[AI] two choices

2011-08-03 Thread Anjina Bhat
Two Choices

What would you do?you make the choice. Don't look for a punch
line, there isn't one. Read it anyway. My question is: Would you have
made the same choice?

At a fundraising dinner for a school that serves children with
learning disabilities, the father of one of the students delivered a
speech that would never be forgotten by all who attended. After
extolling the school and its dedicated staff, he offered a question:
'When not interfered with by outside influences, everything nature
does, is done with perfection.

Yet my son, Shay, cannot learn things as other children do. He cannot
understand things as other children do.

Where is the natural order of things in my son?'

The audience was stilled by the query..

The father continued. 'I believe that when a child like Shay, who was
mentally and physically disabled comes into the world, an opportunity
to realize true human nature presents itself, and it comes in the way
other people treat that child.'

Then he told the following story:

Shay and I had walked past a park where some boys Shay knew were
playing baseball. Shay asked, 'Do you think they'll let me play?' I
knew that most of the boys would not want someone like Shay on their
team, but as a father I also understood that if my son were allowed to
play, it would give him a much-needed sense of belonging and some
confidence to be accepted by others in spite of his handicaps.

I approached one of the boys on the field and asked (not expecting
much) if Shay could play. The boy looked around for guidance and said,
'We're losing by six runs and the game is in the eighth inning. I
guess he can be on our team and we'll try to put him in to bat in the
ninth inning.'

Shay struggled over to the team's bench and, with a broad smile, put
on a team shirt. I watched with a small tear in my eye and warmth in
my heart. The boys saw my joy at my son being accepted.

In the bottom of the eighth inning, Shay's team scored a few runs but
was still behind by three.

In the top of the ninth inning, Shay put on a glove and played in the
right field. Even though no hits came his way, he was obviously
ecstatic just to be in the game and on the field, grinning from ear to
ear as I waved to him from the stands.

In the bottom of the ninth inning, Shay's team scored again.

Now, with two outs and the bases loaded, the potential winning run was
on base and Shay was scheduled to be next at bat.

At this juncture, do they let Shay bat and give away their chance to
win the game?

Surprisingly, Shay was given the bat. Everyone knew that a hit was all
but impossible because Shay didn't even know how to hold the bat
properly, much less connect with the ball.

However, as Shay stepped up to the

plate, the pitcher, recognizing that the other team was putting
winning aside for this moment in Shay's life, moved in a few steps to
lob the ball in softly so Shay could at least make contact.

The first pitch came and Shay swung clumsily and missed.

The pitcher again took a few steps forward to toss the ball softly
towards Shay..

As the pitch came in, Shay swung at the ball and hit a slow ground
ball right back to the pitcher.

The game would now be over.

The pitcher picked up the soft grounder and could have easily thrown
the ball to the first baseman.

Shay would have been out and that would have been the end of the game.

Instead, the pitcher threw the ball right over the first baseman's
head, out of reach of all team mates.

Everyone from the stands and both teams started yelling, 'Shay, run to first!

Run to first!'

Never in his life had Shay ever run that far, but he made it to first base.

He scampered down the baseline, wide-eyed and startled.

Everyone yelled, 'Run to second, run to second!'

Catching his breath, Shay awkwardly ran towards second, gleaming and
struggling to make it to the base.

B y the time Shay rounded towards second base, the right fielder had
the ball . the smallest guy on their team who now had his first chance
to be the hero for his team.

He could have thrown the ball to the second-baseman for the tag, but
he understood the pitcher's intentions so he, too, intentionally threw
the ball high and far over the third-baseman's head.

Shay ran toward third base deliriously as the runners ahead of him
circled the bases toward home.

All were screaming, 'Shay, Shay, Shay, all the Way Shay'

Shay reached third base because the opposing shortstop ran to help him
by turning him in the direction of third base, and shouted, 'Run to
third!

Shay, run to third!'

As Shay rounded third, the boys from both teams, and the spectators,
were on their feet screaming, 'Shay, run home! Run home!'

Shay ran to home, stepped on the plate, and was cheered as the hero
who hit the grand slam and won the game for his team

'That day', said the father softly with tears now rolling down his
face, 'the boys from both teams helped bring a piece of true love and
humanity into this world'.

Shay didn't make it to another summ

Re: [AI] Googling with Firefox

I am also using Firefox 5 & have something to say as I find it.

It seems tab becomes very little effective in FF this version especially in
edit textboxes, combo boxes. I often find this problem & have to arrow down to
reach the next line or link. It appears prominently in IRCTC website while
booking a ticket where Name, age, sex & berth cannot be all the time equally
accessible by tabs & only arrow down works at times.

It’s nothing of the sort to have great experiences of long years in computer
operations, to me it looks like browser/net designers least care accessibility
issue for screen reader users & things get better tailored other than for a VI
easily.
