Re: [AI] Window8&speech 2 text software?

2013-11-30 Thread Hozefa Tambawala
You may not find much accessibility while working with the older
version of JAWS. The latest version NVDA 2013.2 is accessible with
Windows 8.

Re: [AI] What is the latest version of NVDA?

2013-11-30 Thread Bhavya shah
Hi, Ashik Sir.
Even though your doubt has been solved I have a suggestion for you.
Rather than always going to the NV Access webpage for the latest
version of NVDA here is an easier but equally efficient alternative.
Open the NVDA Menu.
Select the Tools Submenu.
There you will find an option called Check For Updates.
Note: You will require an Internet Broadband for this too.
NVDA will alert you if an update is available or not.
Jaspal Sir, I feel JAWS is slightly better than NVDA but certainly not
worth being purchased. NVDA is also very good and is rapidly improving
to give an equal competition to JAWS.
Hope that helps
Best Regards
Bhavya Shah

I am also keen to learn Hindi typing with windows 7 but I am more

Hindi phonetic key board in windowsxP with Lekha but now I don't know
how to do it in windows 7. Therefore the help of the friends is

Re: [AI] Deaf, mute dalit widow molested by caste Hindu trio in Thoothukudi

2013-11-30 Thread avinash shahi
Who am I to pronounce whether you're wrong or right? you have your own
understanding and I respect it.

But mind you The Indian Express is not Left-leaning daily.
And I wonder how some of you are maintaining that caste is not a
defining ascriped identity which determines your action and its
outcome?
Caste system is the bedrock of Hinduism and one can not deny its
exploitative nature. And Scheduled caste disabled are still very far
from using screan-reading softwares and aquiring high salaried jobs.
And violence on scheduled caste disabled women is rampent.
Below sharing few paragraphs from recently published book: 'Disability
Gender and State Policy' hope this helps.
block quote
Prevalence of Disability among Dalits
With an estimated figure of 1.8 per cent persons with disabilities in
the overall population of India, the prevalence of disability among
dalits is found to be remarkably higher (2.4%). About 92 per cent of
households with disabled members across social groups have at least
one disabled person. About 7 per cent of dalits and upper caste
households and 5 per cent of ST households have two disabled persons.
It may be noted that there is a positive relationship between the
number of disabled persons in households and average size of
households across all social groups. The variations across gender
reveal higher prevalence of disability among males than females across
all social groups. The gender gap is, however, relatively lower among
dalits and STs than other social groups, suggesting equal
vulnerability of both males and females belonging to dalit and ST
communities to disability. The gender gap across different types of
disability shows that among dalits, the prevalence of locomotor,
hearing and speech disabilities and mental retardation is relatively
higher among males than females and the reverse is true for visual
disability (blindness and low vision). Mental illness, as a mild form
of mental disability, is higher among females across all social
groups. The prevalence of locomotor, speech and hearing disabilities
is relatively higher among dalits; whereas, the prevalence of mental
disability is higher among upper caste groups. Among PWD, higher
proportion of disabilities shows in younger age group (Dalai, 2002)
also among SCs and STs (Pal, 2010; Addlakha 2013 p: 266).
block quote end
Now As far as Madam Ishita said: 'I'm leftist and it is my duty to
criticise Hindus'. I just wish her to think, : how many Access Indians
are Scheduled caste and scheduled tribe Disabled?
I end here.

This is nothing but unfortunate effort to defame certain culture by
communist sponsored media.
The same media says that we should not link any religion with
terrorism and they are connecting rape with particular religion and
class.
Am I wrong avinash?
I am against this incident but to blame upper class of Hinduism shows
writers morality and mentality.
And unfortunate thing is you are defending such writers like always.

[AI] Fleet for disabled rolls out

2013-11-30 Thread Pradeep banakar
http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/city/bangalore/Fleet-for-disabled-rolls-out/articleshow/26543102.cms

BANGALORE: Close to World Disability Day (December 3), KickStart, a fleet of
three disabled-friendly cabs, hit the road on Thursday.

It's designed to provide accessibility to persons with disabilities and senior
citizens, and aims at making Bangalore transportation-friendly for all. The
fleet comprises three cars re-modelled for the differently-abled.

"The concept is constructive and a much-required service which provides
freedom, mobility and dignity to those who need support. Such an initiative
will surely make the city more inclusive," said KS Rajanna, state disability
commissioner.

The service providers plan to create employment for women and transgenders as
cab drivers. Apart from training drivers to be sensitive to passengers,
vehicles are being fitted with a GPS-tracking system. "Over the next five
years, we expect to reach out to 5,000 persons with disabilities and the
elderly. Though three is a very small number, it's not bad for a start. We hope
to gradually scale up our fleet," said Vidya Kalyani Ramasubban, director,
Wheels of Change.

It's an initiative of MphasiS with Wheels of Change (an NGO) as the partner.

The three vehicles

* First cab: Swivel-chair model where the front passenger seat comes halfway
out of the door. This enables the passenger using crutches/ walking stick to
stand up and sit down as in a regular chair. Transfer from seat and vice-versa
is simple with this adaptation for wheelchair users too

* Second cab: Has ramp that opens out of the vehicle door, enabling the
wheelchair user to get in through the ramp. Wheelchair is locked in the vehicle
for a safe ride

* Third cab: Front passenger turns out like the first model. The wheelchair
frame can be attached to the bottom of the turned-out seat. The whole seat can
be brought out of the car and the car seat becomes a wheelchair as it comes out

Who benefits

According to the 2001 census, there are 6 lakh persons with disabilities and 7
lakh senior citizens in Bangalore

* Assuming about 10% of this population are potential cab-users, that number is
1.3 lakh

* 96% of people with disabilities who responded to a survey spoke about their
need for accessible transport service

* To book a KickStart cab, call 8105600445

hello, the amount of a criminal offense can be properly accounted only
if we take the vulnerability of the affected person... First of all,
all the disabled persons are not equal, some are far less equal than
the others. Caste is the vital marker which marginalizes the disabled
to a great extent in South Asia. Fighting against castism and
disability rights are not entirely separate issues... Only when a
wound is exposed that it can be healed! I would strongly put that
those protecting the caste system have no right to claim any special
provision as a disabled person. I think its perfectly right to say
"Caste Hindus"! thanks for sharing this news Abinash!

A 36-year-old differently-abled dalit widow, was allegedly molested
by
a caste Hindu trio, who also abused her using her caste name, at
Thoothukudi on Monday.

Sources said that Amutha, widow of Mariappan and a resident of T
Saveriapuram here, was both deaf and dumb. After the death of her
husband Mariappan seven years ago, she was living with her father,
Sakthivel, who worked as a watchman.

On Monday evening, she, along with her 13-year old niece, Kanagavalli,
took her goats for grazing to a field on the western side of the
Komaspuram village.

While she was herding the goats, a caste Hindu trio closed her mouth
with their hands and forcibly took her away. When she resisted their
attempts, they abused the woman using her caste name, according to her
niece.

Kanagavalli, who was alarmed by the brutality of the trio, rushed to
Thalamuthunagar police station and informed about the ‘kidnap’ of her
relative.

When police rushed to the spot, the trio fled the scene leaving the
woman in the same place.

However, police managed to catch two of them. They were identified as
Selvam (36), son of Munisamy, and Saravanamuthu(23), son of
Shanmugavel, both from Davispuram in Thoothukudi. The third person,
Lakshmana Kumar, son of Soundarapandi, took to his heels.

A case has been filed against the trio under various sections of the
IPC and 3(1)(XI) of SC and ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.

Subsequently, police arrested the two persons. On Tuesday morning,
during a search police arrested the third person, Lakshmana Kumar.

Re: [AI] Deaf, mute dalit widow molested by caste Hindu trio in Thoothukudi

2013-11-30 Thread muruganandan.k
hello, the amount of a criminal offense can be properly accounted only
if we take the vulnerability of the affected person...

Re: [AI] Deaf, mute dalit widow molested by caste Hindu trio in Thoothukudi

2013-11-30 Thread Avichal Bhatnagar
I agree,
The incident is really very horrible, but by writing words such as
"dalit woman" and "A caste Hindu trio" we are unnecessarily promoting
the caste system.
A criminal is neither a member of any caste/religion etc, nor the victim.

A 36-year-old differently-abled dalit widow, was allegedly molested by
a caste Hindu trio, who also abused her using her caste name, at
 Thoothukudi on Monday.

IBPS is conducting clerical examination third time therefore it is
called clerical 3,there is no information about the attempt of the
examination but i believ in future IBPS will fix it, the scribe that
is being used by a candidate he/she must not be a candidate him / her
self, and the scribe can give 1 examination as a scribe, because this
time IBPS make a rule against multiple appearance in the examination..

 Dear ve prakash sir,
I am using Google input tool for typing hindi. For typing malayalam
using Google input tool there is an easy technique I just need to type
the Malayalam word in English alphabet. I think this is what you mean
by typing phonetically. Though I have installed Google input tool
for hindi I need to type letter by letter. That means each key of the
keyboard stands for a Hindi letter and need to type it exactly. It
takes a lot of time and you need to remember which key represents
 which letter.
Sir, it would be good if you could suggest me a software that allows
me to type Hindi phonetically. I don't understand what is the use of
 Lekha?
 Thank you,
 Ratheesh
