Subject: [AI] Urgent legal assistance required in scribe matter in Delhi
judicial services exam

Hi friends, I am going to appear in Delhi Judicial Services exam which is
scheduled to be held on 1st of June 2014. Earlier I submitted a
representation to Registrar General of Delhi High Court regarding
implementation of of MSJE and CCPD guidelines in upcoming DJS exam.
Wherein I demanded that the candidates must be allowed to bring their own
scribe and, 20 minutes compensatory time should be allotted each hour to the
candidate using services of the scribe.
Today (17th May) I received a letter from assistant registrar of Delhi High
court, allowing me to bring their own scribe and asking to firnish the
detail of scribe. I have problem with their conditions, the letter reads as
under:
"From
The Registrar General High Court of Delhi New Delhi I am directed to inform
you that you have been permitted to bring a scribe of your choice for
appearing in Delhi Judicial Service Preliminary Examination - 2014 scheduled
to be held on 01.06.2014, subject to the condition that you will submit an
affidavit containing the details of the scribe viz, his name, father's name,
residential address, educational qualification and an undertaking that the
scribe is not a graduate / post-graduate in Law.
I am further directed to inform you that the aforesaid affidavit duly sworn
by you along with a photograph of the scribe, shall reach the office of
Joint Registrar (Vig.) by 25.05.2014 and in case of nonreceipt thereof, it
shall be presumed that you are no longer interested in bringing your own
scribe and in that eventuality, the scribe will be provided by this Court at
the respective Test Centre on the date of the Examination.

Yours faithfully,
(Manish Aggarwal)
Assistant Registrar (Vigilance.)"

Respected members, these conditions are clearly contradictory to MSJE
guidelines. In case I am bringing my own scribe, before one week of exam how
can I ensure that I will bring such and such person? Some time it is
dependent upon the availability of the person and sometime it is decided
only one day ahead of the examination that who will be my scribe. Here its
very problematic to supply the details of the scribe, indirectly they are
again pushing us to accept their scribe who are not even know how to read
questions properly. I want to know whether any humanright agency, any
advocate on the list can help us to file a petition on the behalf of
candidates? If I will go personally, it will take time and this precious
time for the preparation of the exam will be wested there.
Respected Adv. Subhash Vasist, can u do something for us?

2014-05-18 Thread Mohib Anwar Rafel
1. Their condition is that the person must not graduate/post graduate
in law, I accept it, but this conditionality can be ascertained at the
day of the examination too. It is not easy for a visually challenged
to find a person who could commit you that in any case he would be
available after 10 days, (because the letter has to reach to high
court latest by 25).
2. Accessible venue mean, the venue which is well connected to popular
transport means such as Delhi metro, or is situated at well known
place, or is near to candidate's residential area. So that it could be
easy to reach the exam center with out much difficulty. Say for
instance, the examination center allotted to me is at the other corner
of Delhi and the place is not connected to Delhi metro, it gets
difficult to reach at such venues. What UPSC does, they keep center
near to Delhi metro where u don't have to cross the road even. More
over at such venues the staf also are not trained to cater the special
requirement of disabled candidates.

Mam, what can I do now, except going to CCPD, at least to order high
court administration to provide question paper in accessible format
and to remove the condition of firnishing an affidavit one week in
advance. Indirectly high court administration compeling the VI
candidates to accept their own scribes.
And yes, I am concentrating on my syllabus, but before the exam, the
worrey of scribe is horrible.

Re: [AI] Urgent legal assistance required in scribe matter in Delhi judicial services exam

2014-05-18 Thread KanchanPamnani
I know it is difficult to be sure of a scribe till the last minute and I
have gone through this hell myself.
I had told you to keep a petition ready for the High Court while you were
waiting for this letter and I had also told you that I would be in Delhi
from the 20th of May to help if needed-please refer to previous emails on
this subject.
Just check on the different centres available forthis exam-is there one
centre in Delhi or many. UPSC has many examinees sitting so they can
actually have one common venue for all disabled examinees. I don't know how
many sit for the Judicial services exams and how many centres ae there.
I would have liked you to go to court rather than the CCPD for the
accessible papers and etra time etc. Pankaj or Akhilesh could have handled
this matter if you had listened to me at that time. I would have also been
in Delhi and we would have won. This would have closed the matter for ever.
Delhi HC has a vacation court from next week
CCPD will give the orders I am sure but implementation is difficult by 1st
June.
Anyway send it tomorrow for sure with a copy to the Delhi registry.
I would actually like you to write to the Registry on extra time.
If it works great and if does not then it will definitely work for the next
time. This is the same problem with UPSC. Most of the people don't follow up
during the yearand only wake up towards the last few days. I don't like this
and keep following up whether exams are due or not.
If you don't want my comments as someone on this group has suggested then
please let me know and I will stop answering your emails.
  Take care and work hard.

Here its

Bill Gates guided me

{This article of mine was published in the magazine of La Martiniere
Boys' College, Lucknow, where I used to study.}

Ever feared if an unpreventable circumstance cuts you off this school
and cancels your option of studying elsewhere?

WHAM.

Your life will come to a creaking halt. You will be burdened with more
dullness than you can ever imagine. Yup, you will have a lot of time,
but it has pleasure because currently you are busy. You will be
friendless, lonely, and inactive.

So was I when a progressive visual impairment compelled me to leave
this school. I failed in class 6th half yearly first but was then
promoted to 7th where before getting out of this school I failed again
and afterwards met more failures in grad and post grad also! Simple.

Yeah, you guys might have guessed that I was not so good at studies. Right.

And yeah, you guys might have also guessed that I kind of enjoyed my
failures and school-getting out. Wrong.

These failures with my school-separation made me think of committing
suicide. The sorrow of being separated from my school, teachers and
friends is so seething that it still wounds my heart, though in time,
I got over my failures. More years than a decade has have past and I
continue to dream that I have returned to my early youth and am
studying in your school. I rarely regret over things, but I deeply
regret that a good piece of my teenage, in which each moment is more
precious than a gold coin, has wasted. So sad, so fresh, the days that
are no more. Tennyson. But...

Martinians! Changing the paragraph here because now am going to show
you the positive side of the game.

Deprived of regular education, faltering over failures - and therefore
exposing myself to mockery, I started to form a belief of my own.

I was sure that my academic record is not the measuring stick for my
talents and potential. Charles Dickens had a formal education of not
more than four years. Bill Gates was a Harvard dropout; Steve Jobs
(the Apple guy) too was a dropout - Google out his college/university
name - and btw Google-choreographers Larry Page and Sergey Brin were
Stanford abandoners. Sachin also was a failure. In academics.

Back to me: I tried harder than one can think to pass in English but
failed several times before I could obtain 3rd division marks. so much
I was committed to my education that even if for a day I was unable to
study, I used to fall ill.

Sometimes my failures filled me up with self-guilt, but my teacher
(who presently is your principal) used to praise my writing, telling
it would be my forte! A comforting thought for me was (and still is)
that an eminent person and several people with knowledge have praised
me for it, so I keep going. I currently am not a famous writer but am
trekking that mount.

To my joy, I have got two job offers to work as a writer. Imagine in
this competitive time a blind person with poor academics getting such
offers.

I don't do the blunder of defining myself by academic record or small
achievements/failures. Nor Dickens, Gates, Jobs, Page, Brin did.

Will you?

Subject: [AI] Urgent legal assistance required in scribe matter in Delhi

Bill Gates guided me

{This article of mine was published in the magazine of La Martiniere
Boys' College, Lucknow, where I used to study.}

Will you?

Re: [AI] Urgent legal assistance required in scribe matter in Delhi judicial services exam

2014-05-18 Thread Kasia
I can even give you the case number and every details tomorrow after he is
sending it to me. But don't make fus as you were the one did everything
which are all for blind.

I can prove that tomorrow via this list. As how you were ignoring his case
at the beginning and how you've gained name after he is getting positive
judgement from the high court, Chennai. I'm having him on my ears over the
phone at present.

What is the date of this judgement? What is the date of the circular? What
is the representation that was submitted? Who wrote the representation? Who
went to discuss the matter and sorted it out? What has been referred to by
NSDL-please check your facts and also ask your friend as to who helped his
lawyer? Why did your friend not follow his case to its logical conclusion?
Why he didn't share it with Accessindia?
Just go back to emails of 2007 if you really want to confirm. Please don't
believe me if you don't trust me but don't believe everyone else without
facts.
I can only say that 22 organisations working with he visually challenged
signed the representation. Everyone on accessindia helped with their
suggestions so it is always a group effort.XRCVC folloed up and compiled the
documents. I took the lead mainly because of the complaints that I had read
on accessindia and also because of your friend. I have always shared my
information of this forum.
Sorry I cant continue this discussion until next weekend. My request to you
is that you should get your facts in order before accusing anyone.

O dear. I guess you're much talented in interpretating my suggestions. I was
asking you to offer your support to that fellow in private if you don't want
others' intervensions.

While sending this email, I got one more evidence from one of the colleagues
from United India Insurance Company. He was telling the same. As you wanted
to gain name for the things which was not even done by you. He said he was
asking suggestion for his case against NSDL who they were not accepting
blind customers and you were neglecting it at the beginning and after he's
obtaining a judgement from the Chennai Highcourt, you were asking the
judgement and you advertised as you fought for that and got it.

So stop bullying please.

Its really strange that you write to me in a public forum calling me names
and you expect me to respond to you directly.

Also I am once again requesting you to read archives-I reply only on Sundays
and that too if I am at home. Now I will have to go ogg line and attend to
other matters. I will not be able to check my emails for a week.
Why are you calling me a liar. I am being civil to you. Kindly explain your

I have lied to you about.
I normally get into trouble because of my frankness but this is the first

Your insteant replies and way of writing making sure that you got more time
with your fingers and also how much short tempered person you are. If you
wana convey something to someone in particular, why don't you send an email
privately to that person instead of sending it in publicks and asking
everyone not to intervene in that subject? Be a lawyer, and not a liar.

Re: [AI] Is bank transaction riskier for the blind?

2014-05-18 Thread Vamshi. G
Dear Shadab,

Being visually challenged as well as a banker, let me put forth my
thoughts on this.

1. Use on line banking as far as possible.
2. Activate SMS alerts on your mobile so that you get to know about
the transaction as soon it is over.
3. Every time you visit the branch, get home a few transaction slips
so that you get them filled up by people whom you can trust.
4. Remember the denominations and make sure you tell them to the
employee so that he gets to know that you are sure of what you are
doing.
4. If you are banking with SBI, use your debit card to withdraw as
well as deposit cash into your account at green channel counters so
that you won't need to fill any forms. If you want to deposit cash
into an account repeatedly, you can take a GRC (green remit card)
which you can use for depositing cash. The beneficiary as well as the
remmitter will get SMS alerts about the transaction.

If you can be specific about the ways you are getting cheated, I can
provide guidance on the ways to prevent the same.

2014-05-18 Thread Arjun Malhotra
I'm wondering where is the moderator of the list? My suggestion is
that don't go for heresay thingies. The person who accused Kanchan
made a statement on a radio, which is not to be relied upon as he
didn't have any solid evidence to support it. It might be possible
that Kanchan Pamnani said something else and he tainted the her
statement. It would be in public interest if baseless allegations are
not to be relied upon. You are trying to defame someone on this public
forum. Looking forward for case citation.

[AI] Audio Labellers

2014-05-18 Thread Bhavya shah
Dear all.
I just discovered the penfriend audio labeller and touch memo while
surfing the web.
Can you all share reviews/experiences with audio labellers, penfriend
in particular?
Also, do you all have any innovative ideas I [I am a twelve year old
studying in 7th standard in an inclusive school with a laptop as a
means of taking notes] could use an audio labeller for?
I would appreciate any assistance.
P.S. I am soon visiting RNIB so do you all have any suggestions for
me, any particular thing I should check out in RNIB?

[AI] talking colour identifiers

2014-05-18 Thread Bhavya shah
Dear all.
I am aware that a quite similar question has been asked recently but I
would like to ask it again...
To effectively manage clothing are talking colour identifiers really
very helpful? I mean with practise can we efficiently manage our
wardrobe with tactile differentiation of clothing?
What are the best physical products in the market that can meet the
following requirements:
intelligible english text to speech output, volume control for equal
efficiency in noisy surroundings/circumstances, accuracy in colour
identification, basic additional information such as lightness or
darkness of colour be announced if toggled on and not expensive
According to my research, I found the following talking colour identifiers:
Color Talk
Colorino Talking Color Identifier
Color Teller
Speechmaster Talking Color Identifier
The ColorTest 150
Cobolt Colour Detector
Please help me choose an inexpensive but efficient talking colour
identifier that meet the above mentioned requirements.
Also, what are the advantages or disadvantages of physical talking
colour identifiers and accessible Android colour identification apps
over each other? This is because if accessible Android colour
identification apps are equally accurate then it would be just
wonderful to have a light and portable colour identifier!
I would appreciate any assistance.

Re: [AI] Audio Labellers

2014-05-18 Thread Manish Agrawal
If you use a NFC capable android phone, like the nexus 4 or 5, you can also get
the same functionality as that provided by tools like the ones you have
mentioned here on your phone.
The benefit of using an android app is that you do not need to buy a separate
device, remember to keep its battery charged or carry it around, can buy off
the shelf NFC stickers instead of the proprietary stickers used by these
devices and easily copy and share your audio labels across devices.

You can read more about this at:

World's 'first' Braille phone goes on sale
May 18, 2014, 02.09PM IST PTI

A London-based company claims to have put the world's first Braille phone,
which costs just 60 pounds, for sale in UK.LONDON: A London-based company
claims to have put the world's first Braille phone, which costs just 60 pounds,
for sale in UK.

The phone has been designed to provide an instant connection between blind
users and their friends and family, its manufacturers said.

The front and back of the phone, which is currently only available in the UK,
is constructed using 3D printing techniques and can be customised.

According to OwnFone, its braille phone, that comes in a variety of different
colours, is the first of its kind to go on sale.

The company can even print raised text on the keypad for those who can not read
Braille, the 'BBC News' reported.

According to the inventor of the phone Tom Sunderland, 3D printing the front
and back of the device helped to keep the costs down to 60 pounds.

"The phone can be personalized with two or four Braille buttons which are
pre-programmed to call friends, family, careers or the emergency services,"
Sunderland said.

"This is the first phone to have a 3D printed keypad and for people that can't
read Braille, we can print texture and raised text on the phone. Our 3D phone
printing process is patent pending," he said.

People who wish to buy the phone can create a custom design on the company's
website.

While this may be the first Braille phone available in the market, the idea has
been explored before as well.

Last year, India-based start-up Kriyate developed a prototype Braille-enabled
smartphone, featuring a repressible Braille display and feedback controls that
beep or vibrate after receiving certain commands, the report said.

Shiv

I am sure the list rules clearly define in unequivocal terms as to what can be
discussed here. Personal accusations & maligning a fellow advocate committed

Stop this right away and we request the moderator to expunge the defamatory

Firstly, please remember the mails cannot be retracted back and it is there to

Secondly, the mails are public and it is similar to speaking out in a public

Thirdly, the list cannot be denigrated to hurl abuses at anyone

2014-05-18 Thread Mohib Anwar Rafel
Please stop this deprecative and unwarranted assertions against
respected member of this list. . These allegations are capricious and
personally motivated. I simply asked for any legal assistance, for
which she came out and offered her help. If members use such
derogatory language against those persons who are coming forward to
help us, who will do so in future?
Yes I was also little bit surprised when she wrote that she doesn't
agree with my first point! but believe me she opined in a very
practical way, these are the arguments which are raised inside the
courtroom during argumentation with opposite parties. A lawyer has to
take into consideration the arguments which may be raised by opponent.
I remember when I was arguing once in Delhi High Court, against UGC in
one of my own case, I argued that this condition was never mentioned
in application form nor in advertisement, Honorable Justice Kelash
Gambhir replied to me that each and every thing can not be written in
advertisement!
So no personal allegations.

Re: [AI] Urgent legal assistance required in scribe matter in Delhi judicial services exam

2014-05-18 Thread payal
Unfounded spouting of venom is really something we can do without on this
list. Unfortunately we don't have any defamation clauses on this list.
A member out of nowhere decides he/she can say whatever they choose about a
member of longstanding repute is not only unfortunate but also uncalled for.

I agree with the rest when they say this information should be expunged with
sufficient action taken against persons like this to ensure name calling and
venom spouting is kept out.
What Kanchan has done, is known to most on this list here. no action was
taken on an earlier occasion when things were said in unsavoury manner too.

Strainge it is.

Kanchan had been composed and civil iin her reply and Kasia is going
on and on for nothing.

Kasia, if you had any problem with Kanchan, you should have sent her a
private mail instead of writing on the list. You accuse Kanchan of
something on some hearsay and you expect she shouldn't respond to you
on the list? how bizzarre is that.

I am the testimony as to how Kanchan had helped me and there are so
many others like me I am sure.

Kasia, you must apologise.

Hello sir,
Pls also stop just giving simple replies of same kind like to contact
someone without knowing the solution. pasting same message of someone
for all postings will also hinder our other list members from
providing solutions, as this same message will dominate all the
postings and the intension of the poster to get solution will be left
at nil position... There are many people on this list those are
expertised in their respective fields and matters. So, please let them
also get their turn to help the access indians. A uniform and
monotonous posting of telling to contact a single person for all
problems also will not allow the next reader to find the real subject
line immediately, as this message will be in the very beginning
itself.
Please give caution in this matter sir.

Friends, Kanchan ma'am have always been of great help to me, she is
just like my elder sister and the moderator must demand apology from
Kasia or remove him from the list. (I am polite to say that he must
apologise.) It is very unfortunate that Kanchan ma'am has to waste her
important time because of that person. Moderator I am very upset by
the disgust spewed on the list, and have wasted time reading all the
emails on this important topic which was not so important for me
because I saw your email. The level of Access India has fallen very
low. Poor. Moderator will you always remain polite with ridiculous
people? Access India is a nice list, I have made many good friends
here, but forgiveness will convert it to garbage. Weed out the
dead-wood forthwith.

[AI] Macro security setting problem

2014-05-18 Thread Mukesh
Dear friends,
I have enable all macros in macro setting. All the macros are running in the
excel files which are not protected with password. If I give a password to the
macro enable file then the macros are not running and giving error message 'due
to your security setting macros has been disabled. Please reopen the file and
enable macros again' I did it but in vain.

Please give me a solution.
