[AI] 2015 horoscope for all zodiak signs -

2015-01-11 Thread Kriti Banga
hello friends.

a very happy 2015 to all!

want to know how your year is going to be?

find out here!

happy reading.

Aries :: Pick your opportunities wisely this year, and take the best
advantage of them, says Ganesha. The year, however, may begin on a low-key,
but don't
get disappointed, you will get your due chances! Expect things to catch
momentum post mid-April, when the supportive Jupiter aligns itself in your
favour.
Also, throughout the year, the Sun shall support your Sign by providing an
environment conducive to progress. Yes, there will be roadblocks, but none
too
daunting. You may also find yourself spiritually inclined. Jupiter's
influence shall pave your way towards higher education. Career/ job change
is possible.
The stars are in favour of buying a house. Health-wise, stars may not be
very supportive, so be watchful through the year. Don't let the stress and
strain
of your love life affect you so much that it spoils your health and
professional prospects. Money-wise things shall be good; expect business to
flourish
post September'15.

Taurus :: This year, be ready for some twists and turns, and learn to go
with the flow, says Ganesha. In your best interests, stay open-minded and
flexible.
As the year begins you may not be very happy with circumstances, so you
won't entirely be averse to change. Nonetheless, go slow and refrain from
making
big moves. Relocation is possible, but may not give you the desired
results. However, you may buy a new vehicle or invest in a new holiday
home. Financially,
you shall need to be tactful. Stock markets may seem attractive, but if you
don't have experience, keep off. June to September '15 look difficult, but
things will improve thereafter. Love may press you to make a commitment.
You may not be very happy in your job, while if you happen to be a
businessman,
you may lay a firm foundation for future. Students will find the going
smooth.

Gemini :: Ganesha advises you to go with the flow this year and have faith
in your instincts. You will be lucky on and off. As the year begins, you may
be feeling confused and directionless; thus your progress will be tedious.
However, don't be disheartened. Relax, and if you have some spare time,
utilise
it to recharge yourself by indulging in some hobby. On the financial front,
avoid wasteful expenditure. Do take care of your health too, and steer clear
of junk food. In the former half of the year, you may have a spat or two
with a friend, colleague or a loved one, which may derail you somewhat.
Here too,
your hobby will stave off negativities. If you are into business, expect to
start seeing profits post-August 2015. Around the same time, you may also
expect
many of your woes nearing an end. A new meaningful relationship is also
foreseen.

Cancer :: There will be highs and lows this year, but happily, the highs
will overshadow the lows. Your finances will be good, despite a possible
change
in your job/career path. Property purchase or inheritance is likely. Plus,
in the first half of the year, with Jupiter casting its influence over
Saturn,
you might see some major changes. This positive streak may begin to fade
around June-July, slowing down things. Hold on, though, and let this pass,
says
Ganesha. It is your personal sphere that shall need your undivided
attention through the year. The more you nurture your special
relationships, the sweeter
shall they get. In marriage and committed relationships, it shall be
important to remain frank. If you find your partner overbearing and
annoying, say
it. But, do not take your beloved for granted. Career-wise too you will
need to be flexible. However, amidst all the stresses and strains, do not
neglect
your health.

Leo :: The new year shall begin on a high note, and you shall feel
energetic enough to take on the world. However, you shall be introspective
too, and
if you manage to draw constructive lessons from this, your progress will
noticeably hasten, promises Ganesha. In the first part of the year, you may
feel
success eluding you. Don't lose heart; this effect of retrograde Jupiter
passing through your Sign shall wane gradually. By March, you are likely to
have
a clearer vision, especially regarding finances. Watch your health, as it
may cause you trouble on some accounts. In love, if you are married or
committed,
stars may largely support you. Your beloved shall shower his/her attention
on you. If you are planning to get married too, the year seems right.
September
2015 onwards, the time shall be suitable for taking concrete action.
Professionals and businessmen may have to wait patiently for the right
opportunities.

Virgo :: This year you will have to remain pragmatic, and control your
temper, lest you end up hurting someone. Also, don't try to impose yourself
on others,
says Ganesha. Finances may cause anxiety, because of some sudden unexpected
expenses. You may, thus, look for alternative means of earning money. You
shall
not be short of good opportunities, b

Re: [AI] Networking in Conferences

2015-01-11 Thread Vedprakash
Being related to the field of music, I have encountered the same situation.
Most of the time, I happen to be with one of friends with the same liking.
And the mission is accomplished. But the basic thing to make a relation with
the pannelist is still not achievable in such crowded places. The panellists
are surrounded by several of their fans and not much notice is given to the
persons who cannot make the ever-important eye-contact.
So, most of the time, my queries are satisfied with regard to the topic but
the "relation" which is more important is not their.
So if possible, I take the visiting card of those pannelists and keep on
sending "new year" messages, and other social things keeping in view that I
am not disturbing them.
After this, whenever, they happen to meet me in some another
workshop/seminar, they recognise me and take some time to exchange greetings
with me.

Hi All,

I hope this message finds you well. I am wondering if any of you might be
able to share some valuable and actionable insights about the strategies
that can be adopted to meet new people at conferences. I, for one, am always
dependent on the mercy of the people with whom I am at a conference insofar
as meeting panelists is concerned. This works just fine if the other person
is just as passionate as I am about forging new relationships, but it
becomes problematic when the other person lacks either the desire or the
nerve to go up to a panelist and strike up a conversation. You typically
only get a handful of minutes to meet these panelists and , therefore,
there's a lot of hustle and bustle in the conference arena. As a result,
asking a volunteer for help or trying to find your way on your own are not
feasible solutions. Please let me know what you think about this.

Best,
Rahul

2015-01-11 Thread kanchan Pamnani

Hi Bhavya,
Even though you have addressed the mail to Pranav I thought I should reply.
I have been enjoying your emails and your curiosity.
Although I am not giving you sound advice nonetheless it is my advice. Drop
coral draw for the time being. revisit it in a couple of years.
I would spend some time having fun with the SPAM mails after taking the
precautions that Pranav and others had suggested. Smile. Your systems may go
for a toss and you might have to change every password but it is fun to do
dangerous things while knowing that it is dangerous-you got to test your
brains.
Coral draw will make you prod alonng but the SPAM chasing will make you
jump.

So go for it and have fun.

What are these things you have mentioned? Just to be clear, the

No, I do not know how to program. I don't think I would put in the
required efforts to learn Coral Draw macro. But still thanks for the
suggestion.
Well, I have been given alternatives for two graphical programs in th
past, namely Adobe Photoshop and Google Picasa, but I was wondering,
if I could actually use this software instead of requesting for an
alternative.
What would you say, should I pursue Coral Draw, or ask for an alternative?

Re: [AI] Networking in Conferences

2015-01-11 Thread George Abraham
Dear Rahul,

This is a very valid and real challenge. I face this all the time. Some of
the strategies I have tried to adopt are as unde:

1. Talk to the organisers about the challenge. Very often the organisers if
informed in advance will make arrangements for you to meet with people you
want.
2. Make your presence felt by asking questions and pertinent comments. Also
sometimes if you want to meet anyone in particular, then mention your
blindness and your desire in meeting up with the particular pannelist.
3. Try to talk to the organisers in advance and see if you could be one of
the pannelists. It always helps to be a pannelist because people will then
come to you.
4. Establish your equity by writing blogs, making meaningful contributions
in forums that you are interested in, participate in debates/discussions so
that people notice you and start valuing your views to the point they begin
to approach you.
5. You could request the organisers to share contact information of the
people you want to get to know and connect with them outside the
conference. This is often better. I always prefer a one on one interaction
as compared to a group interaction with the pannelist.

The above are a few short term and long term ideas. If you would like to
discuss the issue further, you could give me a call.

Best,

George

[AI] Debate to follow and engage: Are online petitions a valid form of protest? By John Coventry and Melanie

2015-01-11 Thread avinash shahi
John Coventry, Global Communication Director at Change.org
http://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2015/jan/11/debate-online-petitions-valid-form-protest-ched-evans-oldham
When we launched Change.org in the UK in 2012, we'd get asked to
answer criticism that online petitions were pointless - that signing a
petition never changed anything. Three years on, we're asked to answer
criticism that they work too well.

And they definitely work, just ask Lee Lawrence. In 1985 the police
shooting of his mum Cherry Groce sparked riots in Brixton. For almost
30 years he was denied justice - then when the inquest was called for
2014 he was denied legal aid. For two years he campaigned to get
funding to get the truth from the Metropolitan police with little
success. As a last resort he started a Change.org petition and six
weeks later, and with the power of 125,000 people behind him, funding
was granted - and that led to a full apology from the police.

Stories like this (and roughly 10 campaigns powered by our site win
every week) rarely get the coverage of a case like Ched Evans'. But
isn't it right that as a society we have a loud discussion about how
we view sexual assault and rape culture? Isn't it exciting that
someone who's lived through abuse can start a petition and open up a
national debate about violence against women? And isn't it positive
that institutions, companies and politicians have a chance to hear
public opinion from voters and consumers with real experience of the
decisions they're making?

Society is adapting to seismic shifts in how we communicate with each
other. The huge opportunity that the internet brings for people to
engage with the biggest issues in the world today is one of the best
things about technology. We shouldn't dismiss it so easily.

Melanie McDonagh, journalist

Last week, Stephane Charbonnier and nine of his colleagues at Charlie
Hebdo paid a dreadful price for expressing their views in the mortally
dangerous form of a satirical periodical. By comparison with the fatal
moral engagement of men like these in their argument with
fundamentalist Islam, it's even more difficult than usual to take
seriously the posturing of online pundits. Opening a link, clicking on
a send button... can anyone possibly take this seriously as a way of
engaging in debate on any subject that matters? It's effortless moral
outrage, requiring neither understanding nor commitment on the part of
the clickers.

Now turning out on a rainy night to hold up placards or pens in
Trafalgar Square as lots of people did in a bid to show solidarity
with the murdered journalists, that I can take seriously - not the
people who say they care with a hashtag. Like Twitter, online
petitions are slovenly outrage. Naturally most of us do not expect to
pay for the expression of our views with our life as opposed to, say,
giving whole minutes of our time to write to an MP, but those who
can't be fagged to do more than find their smartphone to express their
innermost convictions really don't deserve to have them taken into
account. If more than 60,000 people spend 10 seconds of their time
clicking on a petition, as in the Ched Evans case, that doesn't amount
to 10,000 minutes of concern; it's individually about as speedy and
uncommitted as emptying your bowels, and rather less productive.

JC Last week's demonstrations were a moving and beautiful response to
the horror that went before them. I also thought the outpouring of
solidarity on social media was moving too.

What matters of course is what works. When Phill Wills's autistic son
Josh was moved to a care home 500 miles away, no one paid attention to
Phill's plea to bring his son closer to home. Once he started his
petition and it had been signed and shared by tens of thousands,
backed by celebrities, the care minister picked the case up. Now Josh
is back home.

Stefan Rousseau/PA
When the women on the New Era estate in Hoxton were told they were
being evicted by a US developer they gathered 330,000 signatures, a
raft of support from politicians, celebs and the media. Those women
then mobilised hundreds of people to march the petition to Downing
Street - the perfect combination of on and offline protest. These
aren't "internet pundits" - they're mums fighting for their homes and
dads trying to keep families together. They're people of all
backgrounds engaging in politics in their own way. They don't have
newspaper columns or powerful friends, but they do have the internet
and social media, and they're challenging power and winning. I don't
know what your bowel movements are like, Melanie but mine certainly
aren't that productive.

MM I've no doubt that the causes you organise petitions about are
almost all excellent ones; who can argue against giving people a
voice? But the bar is set altogether too low for the online petition.

[AI] Thanks for your suggestions for NVDA development

2015-01-11 Thread Dinesh Kaushal
Dear All,

Thank you very much for your overwhelming response for the request for
suggestions.

We have received suggestions for around 80 features and bugs. We are compiling
the list, and we will be either adding these issues on NVDA list or adding them
as comments on the NVDA issue tracker. As a rule, all issues have to be first
added on NVDA tracker and only then a developer can submit fixes for those
issues.

If you want, you can also submit these issues on NVDA tracker, that way you
would be able to track the status of these issues. As a rule, if you provide
clear and step by step description of an issue and good enough justification
for the issue reported, there would be a good chance that it will be taken
sooner by a developer. The best way to get your issue ignored is just saying
that I want it. If you provide why do you need something and how it could help
other users, the developers would be able to decide to take up the issue.

To report a bug or request for a feature, visit

http://community.nvda-project.org/wiki/Issues

Before reporting your issue, make sure that you first search to know whether
someone has already reported the same issue.

I would like to thank you again from the entire NVDA Development team in India.

Best
Dinesh

[AI] Surgery helps IIT student gain sight after 19 years,

2015-01-11 Thread rahul rahul
Hello Friends,
A good info.
source:
http://m.timesofindia.com/city/chennai/Surgery-helps-IIT-student-gain-sight-after-19-years/articleshow/45838710.cms

Jan 11, 2015, 01.46AM IST TNN

Choudhary suffered from a congenital condition in which the lenses in
his eyes were tilted and cornea in one eye was almost closed,
resulting in near-zero vision. But he can now read without much effort,
thanks to a surgery he underwent in a Chennai hospital.CHENNAI: It
would have been an odd sight for JEE invigilators last year when
Ashish Choudhary, a candidate, wrote the exam, with his nose almost
touching the answer paper. When the results came, he bagged the 27th
rank, and secured admission in IIT-Madras.

Choudhary, 19, who hails from Madhya Pradesh, suffered from a
congenital condition in which the lenses in his eyes were tilted and
cornea in one eye was almost closed, resulting in near-zero vision.
But he can now read without much effort, thanks to a surgery he
underwent in a city hospital. Doctors fixed artificial lenses in his
eye using glue.

Ashish had problems with vision since his birth. Despite several trips
to various hospitals, his vision did not improve. At IIT, his
professors noticed that Ashish was always restless in class and did
not focus on the blackboard. "He could not see properly. We decided to
get him medical help as he was a brilliant student," said Ashish's
English teacher Manjula Rajan.

He was taken to Agarwal's Eye Hospital where tests revealed that his
optical lenses were tilted. "There was also decreased vision in one
eye as his pupil was distorted," said Dr Amar Agarwal. The doctors
corrected the condition by implanting artificial lenses through glued
intraocular lens (IOL) technique. "We also repaired his pupil and
brought it to the centre by removing tissue from his iris. This
ensured that enough light passed through his pupil and provided clear
vision," the doctor said.

Dr Agarwal said the technique is usually used to rectify cataract in
patients who have had a serious eye injury. Previously, IOL
implantation was considered very difficult or fraught with
complications as it required large incisions and multiple sutures,
leading to longer healing time.

Earlier, doctors did not have a way to implant artificial lens as
there was no support to keep it steady. "Now it can be held in one
place with the help of glue. The technique of glued IOL developed in
2007 has been a game changer," the doctor said. As Ashish's parents
are farmers and could not afford the expensive surgery, IIT-Madras
came forward to sponsor the procedure.
