[AI] Usain Bolt runs as guide for blind Paralympic champion Guilhermina in Rio

2015-04-20 Thread avinash shahi
Certainly a dream come true for anyone.
The fastest indeed!
http://www.paralympic.org/news/usain-bolt-runs-guide-blind-paralympic-champion-guilhermina-rio

Six-time Olympic champion from Jamaica trains with Brazil's three-time
Paralympic champion ahead of 'Mano a Mano' event.

Brazil's three-time Paralympic sprinting champion Terezinha
Guilhermina unveiled her new guide on Saturday (18 April) in Rio de
Janeiro, Brazil, none other than Jamaica's six-time Olympic champion
Usain Bolt!

Bolt was in the host city of next year's Olympic and Paralympic Games
to promote the Mano a Mano Challenge at the Brazilian Jockey Club and,
grinning all the way, joined with Guilhermina to take part in a 50m
sprint.

Short videos from the event can be viewed here: video 1 video 2

"It was a dream come true," said Guilhermina, who won 100m and 200m
gold at the London 2012 Games and 200m gold at the Beijing 2008 Games.
"He was a little uncertain at the start, afraid that I might fall over
or that he would run too fast. This shows how much respect events like
this bring to Paralympic athletes.

"Running with him [Bolt] is a joy for any athlete. Bolt is a reference
in the sport and I'm happy to have participated in this race. I
fulfilled a dream."

The third Mano a Mano Challenge will reach its climax on Sunday (19
April) when Bolt will compete in the 100m. Saturday saw the
qualification races for the men's and women's 100m. Bolt will race
against Brazil's José Carlos Moreira, the Netherlands' Churandy
Martina and the USA's Ryan Bailey. The women's race will feature
Jamaicans Veronica Campbell-Brown and Kerron Stewart, plus Brazil's
Vitória Cristina Silva Rosa and the USA's Carmelita Jeter.

There will also be a Paralympic race, featuring Alan Oliveira, who won
200m gold at London 2012, plus US sprinters Paul Peterson and Richard
Browne, and Germany's Felix Streng.

Guilhermina will not be competing on Sunday, but she has plenty on her
schedule already. "I have the Parapan American Games (in Toronto in
August) and then the World Championships in Doha (in October)," she
said. "So it will be a very important year in terms of preparations
for the Rio 2016 Games.

[AI] Problem in outlook Express

2015-04-20 Thread Jayachandran. T

Friends,

I have a peculiar problem in outlook express. I configured outlook express
correctly. incoming, outgoing mail server everything is correct. Mails
also are downloading.

But when I open the mail, the body of the mail shows blank. The body of the
mails behaves like a html page. For example when I tried to compose a new
mail, when I type hello, for he jaws says there is no heading, for e it says
there is no edit box, for both Ls it says there is no list again for o it
says there is no object. This problem is not only for single mail. Its for
all the mails downloaded. If I press tab after opening the mail it goes to
from line then to line then subject and again it goes to from line and it
continues.

Nearly 7 times I configured by deleting the earlier configuration. And one
more thing eventhough the mail contains attachment, it doesnot shows the
attachment. I dont know how to solve this problem. Anybody can guide me in
this regard.

Re: [AI] solveing regression equations useing xl

2015-04-20 Thread Him Prasad Gautam
hi,
In Excel, There are two functions that calculate slope and intercept.
you can use them.
For the equation to be automatically written at any cell of desire;
Just use the combination of concatenate function and calculate the
slope and intercept using the above said functions at the same cell.
It will give an regression equation.
if desired equation is in the form of
y=mx+C
then write the formula,
=concatenate("y = ", slopeCalculationFunction, "x + ",
interceptCalculationFunction)
Enjoy.

Re: [AI] Srujana's query on securities laws

2015-04-20 Thread Amar Jain
Hi Srujana,

Probably you have already got assistance from the best expert on the
subject matter as he hails from the organization which defines these
laws.

Nevertheless, I have done postgraduate diploma in securities laws,
and currently practicing in the international capital market division
of my firm.

If you need to discuss anything with respect to the laws, feel free to
call me up. On the practical side, I am little unclear as to what
exactly you are looking for.

You may also like to go through the discussion papers / draft
circulars of SEBI where they have invited comments from the public.

I believe ICSI module is very much detailed in terms of the coverage
of the laws and regulations. If you need help in understanding this,
we can discuss the aspects where you need inputs.

Regards,

Re: [AI] solveing regression equations useing xl

2015-04-20 Thread Mahesh Narasimhan
Dear Rekha,
Greetings!

I used to solve manually. Firstly find the slope of the regression
equation by identifying the independent variable and the dependent
variable. Then find the value of the intersept. When one has the
values of the slope and intersept, it is easy to find the regression
equation.

Dear Asif and Harish,

Noticed the email below on the Access India group just now.

Could you please share the original document received from NIC on revising
the *GIGW (Guidelines for Indian Government Websites)*
. Is just the *accessibility part*
 being revised or the *whole
document*

?

Who is collating inputs on behalf of civil society - could we all send
emails, if so to which email id and by when?

Apologies for bothering you but news of the revision doesn't seem to be
available in the public domain. And there is so much to input.

Thanks,

Vaishnavi

 5
Information structure and relationship is preserved in all presentation
styles.

 6
The meaningful reading sequence is preserved in all presentation styles.

 7
Changing the setting of a component does not change the context unless
the
user has been informed of the same.

 8
When any component receives focus it does not initiate change in
context.

 9
If an input error is automatically detected, the item that is in error
is
identified and the error is described to the user in text.

 10
Time limit for time dependent web functions can be adjusted by the user
(also refer exceptions).

Labels have been provided when content requires input from the users.

exciting is a sighted girl chose him as life partner despite his poor

Re: [AI] RBI revamps its website

2015-04-20 Thread Dhananjay Bhole
Sir,

The website is not accessibility compliant or near to any compliance
such as WCAG or GIGW. They should implement accessibility guidelines
in their portal as it is prime regulatory organization for all the
banks in India. Unless RBI comply to standards, they cannot direct
other banks to make their services accessible.

Re: [AI] Mumbai: State to appoint administrator for 'mismanaged' blind school in Jogeshwari

2015-04-20 Thread Srinivasu Chakravarthula
Dear all,
As I'm up-to-date on the situation at The National Association for the
Blind, Karnataka Branch, I would just want to clarify something on this
thread. As we speak, there are no plans for Government of Karnataka to
appoint an administrator for The NAB Karnataka. In fact, Honorable High
Court and The Government of Karnataka are indeed supportive for operations
of The NAB Karnataka.

Yes, There are some issues going on at The NAB Karnataka but I would not
like to discuss anything here. But certainly there would be some
information made available on our public domain soon. Meanwhile, if anyone
is keen to know or have any questions, please write to me privately and I
would respond as best as I can. I reiterate I would like to continue this
thread for this purpose.

I'm BCCing some of the NAB Karnataka's Governing council so that they are
aware of my comments on this forum.

Best,
Srinivasu

Hi, unfortunately we are not knowing the exact issues which is going
on at MNB. According to some of our friends who are staying there are
saying that the trustees want to sell the entire building and want the
visually challenged friends to leave the premise. This is an
unresolved issue.
